An Early Graduate at Pioneer High School
Brooke Morris, a Carson Online and Pioneer High School student, is graduating early due to her ability to earn credits faster at PHS and Carson Online. At Pioneer, students can earn a minimum of 9 credits per year on the campus or they can also explore part/full time online options.
We match the flexible schedule to fit the needs of the student based on their capabilities and desire to graduate. Brooke is a perfect example of what can be achieved by motivated students in Carson City. With this flexibility, she has also been able to work towards her future career.
As an intern at the Ron Wood Center, Brooke has learned about the world of work and she writes a newsletter for the organization. Over the last few years, Pioneer High School has transformed into the Credit Advancement/Acceleration Program or CAP in the Carson City School District. We also associate this acronym (CAP) for "cap and gown," and that is what we are all about.
As a high school student finishing early, Brooke will have the opportunity to attend TMCC and then to study journalism at UNR on an earlier timeline than most students. Pioneer's unique scheduling allows motivated students to catch up on credits and for some to even graduate early to start their careers or to take advantage of dual college credit options.
