AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Volunteers will be providing free tax preparation services at the Carson City Senior Center on Mondays and Wednesdays from February 5th through April 10th in 2024. We need a Receptionist two Screeners (“Client Facilitators”), and Tax Counselors.

The Sertoma Coat Drive is in full operation for its fourth year of collecting and distributing clothing to the people in the community who are without warm outerwear. With 19 blue barrels in Carson Valley and 7 in Carson City, everyone who wants to donate new and gently used coats, blankets, and warm outerwear is finding a donation spot.

Chugg came to The Nevada Humane Society in Carson City on the 29th of September, 2020 when he was found as an injured stray.  

They have doctored this shy but sweet boy up and he is ready to find his forever home.

Roper’s Heating and Air Conditioning donates over 20 new box fans to Carson City seniors through Fan Drive

Roper’s Heating and Air Conditioning delivered more than 20 brand-new box fans for Carson City seniors during the annual 2020 KOLO Cares Fan Drive.

This is the second year the Carson City Senior Center has participated in the drive, distributing fans to seniors who either do not have air conditioning or who may not be able to afford to run it.

Heroes of Carson City's meals on wheels, drive-thru serve 475 seniors daily during pandemic

Well before dawn, a kitchen crew arrives. Ovens are turned on; food is pulled for today’s meal. Sheet pans are lined, steam pans are filled. Hundreds of disposable cups, trays and lids line the countertops ready to be filled. The crew preps intuitively – they’ve done this many times before. The crew is the Carson City Senior Center. It’s just another morning at the Carson City Senior Center.

Stimulus Program Information

The coronavirus relief bill passed March 27 by Congress provides payments to individuals who make less than $100,000 a year. The payment total $1,200 for each adult who makes $75,000 or less, plus $500 per child. The payment amounts decrease if you make between $75,000 and $99,000. The income is determined by your latest tax return filed with the IRS. It will use your 2019 taxes if you have filed them already, or your 2018 taxes if you haven't. Carson City officials are continuously monitoring the level of risk of COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) to the community. Carson City honors 'March for Meals' Meals on Wheels celebration, serving locals for 45 years

Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell delivered a proclamation Thursday honoring March for Meals. On March 22, 1972, President Richard Nixon signed into law a measure that amended the Older Americans Act of 1965 and established a national nutrition program for seniors 60 years and older.
