There will be a special ceremony at 10:51 a.m. conducted by the USS Nevada Memorial, Lt. Gov. Mark Hutchison and Carson City Mayor Robert Crowell to honor and acknowledge the contributions of the USS Nevada and her crew, raise the American flag, and solemnly read off the names of the 76 crewman who perished during Pearl Harbor. The ceremony will be held at the Capitol Grounds in Carson City, at the USS Nevada Memorial.

At 8:51 AM on December 7th, 1941, The USS Nevada got underway to face a Japanese onslaught at Pearl Harbor. Later dubbed by President Roosevelt as "a day that will live in infamy," the USS Nevada was the only American battleship to get underway during the assault. Still, she was beached during the attack after sustaining six bomb strikes and a direct hit from a torpedo.

Total voter count is 25,061. Carson City Clerk Sue Merriwether reports 91.79 percent of the registered voters turned out to vote.

United Federal Credit Union cuts ribbon at second Carson City branch

United Federal Credit Union (UFCU) marked the formal opening of its newest Carson City branch with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, November 2.

Amidst March snow flakes, officials from Carson City and Q&D Construction dug their shovels into a dirt mound at the intersection of Third and Carson streets nearly eight months ago to break ground on the Downtown Corridor Improvement Project.

Glistening from rain earlier Friday morning, the finished product was unveiled in front of hundreds at a formal ribbon cutting ceremony held in front of the Nevada State Capitol, featuring many of the people who helped to break ground earlier this year.

Senior Carson City Judge John W. Ray honored for service

On Tuesday, Senior Judge John W. Ray was the recipient of a proclamation from the Nevada Supreme Court signed by Chief Justice Ron D. Parraguirre and all six Associate Justices. Carson City Mayor Robert L. Crowell and Justice of the Peace Judge John Tatro presented Senior Judge John W. Ray with the proclamation in his home with his wife Geniel Ray by his side. The proclamation reads:
