Carson City Sheriff’s Office, school district launches 11th Holiday with a Hero campaign

With 10 weeks before Christmas, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office this week officially launched its 11th annual Holiday with a Hero campaign. This community wide program is designed to give homeless Carson City area children a Christmas experience by providing them gift cards to spend on themselves prior to the holiday.

School bus, pickup collide on Highway 50 East; 2 injured in motorcycle crash at Spooner

A school bus and pickup collided Friday afternoon on Highway 50 East near Airport Road in Carson City, sending the driver of the pickup to the hospital. The driver of the bus and two children aboard were not injured, said Carson City Fire Chief Bob Schreihans.

Care Flight called after child struck by vehicle on Ridgeway Court

UPDATE: A child was flown by CareFlight Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle in a north Carson City residential neighborhood. The child, said to be five years old, was struck by the vehicle just after 6 p.m. in the 1700 block of Ridgeway Court, according to dispatch.
The child was reported to be conscious when first responders arrived. The accident is under investigation.

NHP: Two crashes involving three motorcycles reported Wednesday in Carson City area

The Nevada Highway Patrol reports two separate motorcycle crashes Wednesday afternoon involving three motorcycles south of Carson City.

NHP says via Twitter that a motorcycle crash happened just after 3 p.m. in the northbound lane of Highway 395 near Topsy Lane. Care Flight was called. The condition of the rider is unknown at this time.

Care Flight called after vehicle accident on South Saliman Road

At least two people were injured in a vehicle crash Sunday night in the 800 block of South Saliman Road. Both were taken by Care Flight.

UPDATE: Man dies in afternoon pedestrian crash off of Hot Springs Road

A 71-year-old man died Thursday night after he was struck by a pickup earlier in the afternoon, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

Care Flight ordered after vehicle hits pedestrian on Hot Springs Road

UPDATE 9PM: A 71-year-old man died Thursday night after he was struck by a pickup earlier in the afternoon, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

At approximately 2:50 p.m., the Carson City Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident at 101 Hot Springs Road in North Carson City. Although the pedestrian had been reported trapped under the vehicle, by the time officers arrived, he had been removed and was conscious and speaking. The patient was treated at the scene by fire and paramedics and transported by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center. The pedestrian was walking in a marked crosswalk area but there is not an electronic signal.

At 7:49 p.m., the Carson City Sheriff’s Office was notified that the pedestrian victim of the accident had died, said Furlong. His name has not yet been released.

The 68-year-old driver of the vehicle was cited at the scene for failing to yield to a pedestrian.

A Carson City woman was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday on Highway 50 that resulted in an arrest when the suspected DUI driver was going the wrong way, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

UPDATE: An adult male motorcycle rider was injured and has been flown by Care Flight following a crash Saturday afternoon involving an SUV at the intersection of South Carson Street and Eagle Station. A female passenger on the motorcycle did not sustain serious injuries from the crash, according to a Carson City sheriff's sergeant.

UPDATE TUESDAY NOON: Nevada Highway Patrol reports Tuesday the motorcycle rider who crashed his bike Monday evening near the ramp at I-580 and Fairview had non-life threatening injuries. NHP also reports there were no injuries on a single-vehicle Jeep accident that flipped in the area of Spooner Junction.

Care Flight has been called to a crash involving a vehicle and motorcycle that happened shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday in the 2800 block of South Carson Street.
Emergency crews have responded and traffic in the area is being re-directed.
The condition of the motorcycle rider is unknown at this time.

Inmates injured in Carson City prison fight; some hit with rubber pellets

A fight between two inmates Tuesday at the Warm Springs Correctional Center in Carson City resulted in one of the prisoners being flown by Care Flight to a Reno hospital after he was shot by guards with rubber pellets, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections. Six others were injured.

Carson City family hospitalized following rollover crash on Highway 395 in Douglas County

A rollover accident Tuesday night at Highway 395 and Washoe Road in Douglas County sent a Carson City family of four to the hospital, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

2015 National Night Out Carson City returns Tuesday to Mills Park

With the theme of violence prevention, Carson City Sheriff’s Office will host 13 years of community partnership with local agencies, groups and nonprofit organizations Tuesday at Mills Park with the 2015 National Night Out.

Returning this year after a last minute cancelation in 2014 because of heavy rain, this three hour annual family event is designed to bring children and their parents to the park for activities, music, information booths, demonstrations, hot dogs and refreshments. Festivities begin at 5 p.m.

CareFlight called to vehicle crashes with injuries at Highway 50 East and Lompa

UPDATE 4:38PM: At least two people were injured in two crashes involving six vehicles Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 50 East and Lompa Lane. One person was taken by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center in Reno. The second person was taken by ambulance. Their conditions are unknown at this time.
The cause of the crash is under investigation and traffic is being diverted. Westbound Highway 50 continues to be re-routed at Airport Road, said Carson City sheriff's Sgt. Scott McDaniel.

Vehicle crashes in Carson City have soared by 20 percent thus far in 2015 as compared to crashes from January to July 2014, said McDaniel.

A woman was flown by CareFlight this morning after she was struck by a car while crossing a crosswalk on West College Parkway near Save Mart at the north end of Carson City.
The accident happened at around 7:30 a.m. Traffic is being diverted around the accident scene and is under investigation, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Mike Cullen.

Carson City emergency crews were called this morning to a motorcycle crash near the intersection of College Parkway and Airport Road. A medical helicopter was also dispatched. The crash happened at around 9:40 a.m.

A motorcycle rider was seriously injured Sunday after a single vehicle crash that happened just before 3:40 p.m. in the area of Stanford Drive.
Carson City Fire Department and ambulance responded to the crash, reporting one person down in the middle of the road. No other vehicles appear to be involved, according to dispatch. Witnesses on scene said the rider was bleeding from the ear.

Carson City fire and ambulance were called to a pedestrian accident, possibly on a bicyclist who was hit by a vehicle in the area of Airport Road and Highway 50 East.

The call came into dispatch just after 4:10 p.m. Firefighters on scene had requested a Care Flight ambulance however it was canceled after it was learned it would take at least 20 minutes for it to land.

A 13-year-old Carson Middle School girl remains in serious condition after an accident Tuesday afternoon at a South Carson Street crosswalk, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

UPDATE: From Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong: At 3:03 p.m., the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, fire and ambulance responded to a report of a vehicle vs pedestrian accident at the intersection of South Carson Street and 10th Street. On arrival, it was learned that a 13-year-old Carson Middle School student was crossing Carson Street in the crosswalk when she was struck by a north bound vehicle. The student was determined to be in critical condition and care flighted to Renown.

NHP: One seriously injured in Dayton crash Monday

A Fallon man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday on Highway 50 at the intersection of Pine Cone Road in Dayton. The man's wife sustained moderate injuries. Both were taken to Renown Medical Center in Reno via Care Flight, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

UPDATE 3:08PM: Two were taken by Care Flight in an accident this afternoon in the eastbound lane of Highway 50 and Pine Cone Road in Dayton. One suffered serious injuries, while the other had non life-threatening injuries, said Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Dave Gibson.
The vehicles involved were a 1998 Chevy four-door SUV and a 2005 Toyota SUV, said Gibson. One eastbound lane of traffic is open after being closed.

The call came into dispatch at around 12:15 a.m. and involved a single vehicle that ran head-on into a telephone pole. Care Flight was instructed to land on scene at South Carson Street. At least one person has suffered serious injuries.

Kevin Mcintire of Dayton dies from injuries in Saturday motorcycle crash on Geiger Grade

A Dayton man involved in a motorcycle crash Saturday on State Route 341, Geiger Grade, near Virginia City has died, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. Kevin Mcintire, 62, of Dayton died Thursday after being treated for injuries sustained in the crash.
