The Tour of Carson began in 2008 as a way for the shop to say thank you to its customers and the community for their support. The event begins with a 27-30 mile ride around the perimeter of Carson City, and then finishes back at the Bike Habitat for a BBQ.

Agencies eliminate mess left by Marijuana growers
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Tue, 03/20/2012 - 3:48pmOn March 14, the California Department of Fish and Game (DFG) wardens partnered with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Eradication Team (MET), the California Air National Guard’s Pavehawk helicopter team, San Francisco Water Company, Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Department, and Mid Peninsula Open Space District to clean up the environmental damage and mitigate wildlife habitat destruction at several sensitive watersheds throughout Santa Clara County.
Ocean, Earth atmosphere addressed at Thursday lecture

A public lecture on Thursday at the Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences will address some of what has been found.

DFG honors disabled veterans with discounted sport fishing and hunting licenses

America’s disabled veterans get a break on the price of sport fishing and hunting licenses and are provided some special opportunities.
DFG offers reduced-fee hunting and fishing licenses to both resident and nonresident disabled veterans.
Any honorably discharged, disabled veteran with a 50 percent or greater service-connected disability who wants to hunt birds or mammals, or fish in California is eligible.

Game biologists are often hard to understand. When trying to explain something to the everyday man, they forget to stop using all of their scientific terms and sometimes leave people more confused than ever.
When asked about the upcoming chukar hunting season, which begins Oct. 8, Nevada Department of Wildlife upland game biologist Shawn Espinosa wanted to avoid any confusion, “I think overall it's going to be a good to excellent season. Hunters are going to be very happy this year.”

DFG biologists determine cause of Pelican deaths

California Department of Fish and Game (DFG) biologists say that sea lions are responsible for recent pelican deaths in the San Luis Obispo area.
Residents and local law enforcement have been finding the carcasses of California Brown Pelicans along the beaches for the past few days.
More than a dozen of the large aquatic birds have been injured or killed by large puncture wounds.
