Heading into Tuesday, May 7, 2019 we are looking at another picture perfect day for a morning or evening stroll with Carson City's own Muscle Powered and a bevy of events, including a chamber digital marketing workshop, Polka Dot Powerhouse Carson City Chapter meeting and open house, family movie and craft night at the Carson City Library, a filmmaking discussion followed by a showing of the classic "12 Angry Men" at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall and more. We're working our way into Thursday, April 25, 2019 and feeling the warmup around the Carson City region. Winding down our work week we have art, theater and railroad history talks, library presentations, a fitness walk, climate change discussion, back pain wellness workshop, music ensemble at the community center and more. Country dancing is coming to Virginia City on Thursday, April 25 with a free community event at Pipers Opera House. The Carson Lanes Country Kickers, a dance group that meets and dances weekly at Carson Lanes’ Eleventh Frame Lounge, will bring their skill, enthusiasm and fun to the first, in what hopefully will be the first of many country dance nights on the spring-loaded dance floor at Piper’s.

Various computer topics will be taught every week, including Mouse & Keyboard; Files, Folders, and Programs; the Internet; Email; and Windows 10.

You are Invited! Join us at Carson City Yoga for our 2nd annual Open House. A day of Free yoga classes, refreshments, prizes and festivities is planned at Carson City Yoga's open house on Saturday, March 16.

The open house will begin with two regularly scheduled classes: the 7:30 a.m. mixed-level class taught by Amy Joytir, followed by a class for beginners at 9am with Mary Kay Raponi These classes will be free, so please sign up in advance on our website.

This weekend calls for a celebration, because the first Saturday of March is upon us and that means the Carson City Downtown Business Association Wine Walk come rain, snow, wind or shine. And get this: Today's Wine Walk is the last one before Spring.

The Brewery Arts Center, Carson City’s premiere epicenter for the arts since 1975, is hosting a screen writer’s workshop taught by Carson City’s own Sean Mick.

The workshop will take place Saturday, March 2 in the Brewery Art Center’s 1864 Grand Ballroom from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

MS Publisher For Beginners: Learn the fundamentals of this effective desktop publishing software program. Learn how to design, lay out and build pages, posters, fliers and other printed marketing material.

An introduction to beginning concepts of Microsoft Word, part of the Microsoft Office family of software programs. This three-hour course is meant for beginners who have little to no experience using Microsoft Word. The class will explore key program terminology and introduce students to the home ribbon. At the end of the course, students will be able to demonstrate how to draft a letter and/or complete a resume using templates. Supplement your learning in this class with Microsoft Word Fundamentals II and III.

This three-hour course is meant for beginners who have little to no experience using Excel. The class will explore key program terminology, and introduce students to the home ribbon. Good morning Carson City and welcome to Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019. We hope your work week started off on the right foot even though the weather outside has been unpredictable, with sunshine one day and clouds the next. Today we're looking at a slight chance of rain showers, around 20 percent after 11 a.m., and otherwise mostly cloudy skies and a high of 54.

This intensive eight hour seminar covers all aspects of the screenwriter’s craft. Beginners will learn the tools needed to write their first screenplay. Advanced writers will increase their skills and gain valuable insights into the writing process.

Sean Mick studied filmmaking, history, and analysis at Sonoma State University in Northern California, then continued his training through seminars with some of the best screenwriting “gurus” in Hollywood, including Robert McKee.

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, in collaboration with the Nevada Department of Agriculture, will offer a series of eight classes for those in the green industry beginning Jan. 29. The program benefits people wanting to enter the industry, beginners in the industry and established industry professionals.

Good morning Carson City, today is Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019 and it will be a soggy one at that. Rain will continue throughout the morning, changing to snow showers later this afternoon, which has prompted a Winter Weather Advisory for the lower valley areas such as Carson City and Carson Valley. Forecasters urge motorists not to travel into the Sierra today as several feet of heavy snow will impact roadways and travel.

Carson City Parks and Recreation staff met Tuesday with the Eagle Valley Disc Golf Association to identify the remaining work tasks to complete the Disc Golf Course Complex Project, according to Vern Krahn, senior park planner.

Start the new year off with mindfulness and meditation classes beginning Jan. 30 in Carson City. This 5-week class will introduce attendees to the practice of sitting, walking, and eating meditation, and teach participants how to bring mindfulness to everyday life. Core Buddhist concepts will also be explored. Some classes will include mindful movement.

The long awaited Disc Golf course for Carson City has its end in sight, and should be finished by the end of the year if all goes well.

Carson City's "Fresh Meat," or beginners to roller derby, have another chance to join in on one of the world's fastest growing sports. Hosted by Carson City's Carson Victory Rollers, the session begins November 6, and the six week program will meet every Tuesday from 6-7:30 at the Carson City Community Center.

Time for some Sunday holiday adventure. The Carson Nugget has something special tonight, a Van Halen Tribute Band plays two concerts in their upstairs ballroom. For a lazy afternoon in the shade, you’ll find live music on the porch of the Genoa Bar. The Tahoe Orchestra brings their annual 9/11 Memorial Concert to St. Gall’s Church in Gardnerville. Virginia City is trapped in a time loop during Civil War Days. Don’t forget to get your grub on at the annual Rib Cook-off in Sparks. Read on for more events for both Sunday and Monday.

It’s nice that the beginning of the school year is almost immediately rewarded with a three-day weekend. You’ll find annual events like Civil War Days in Virginia City and the Best in the West Rib Cook-off in Sparks, in addition to smaller happenings like the monthly Downtown Carson City Wine Walk and a roller derby double-header.
