The blazing temperatures didn’t deter the crowd of people donning clothing and trucker caps in support of President Donald Trump from attending Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt’s third annual Basque Fry on Saturday.

Mills Park in Carson City features its first ever ‘Movie in the Park’ tonight with a showing of ‘Sing’. After five years in the 4 Paws 4-H Dog Club, Morgan Craghill, 14, had her first opportunity to compete in an actual dog show this week as part of the Carson City Fair at Fuji Park.

We are in the midst of a hot summer that is drawing folks out of the kitchen and in front of the grill. The third annual Morning in Nevada PAC Basque Fry at Corley Ranch in Gardnerville will be headlined this year by U.S. Vice President Mike Pence, Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt announced Friday.

Organizers of the Carson City Fair are seeking volunteers to help with a variety of duties.
“We have lots of positions available,” said Lindsay Chichester, chairwoman of the Carson City Fair Board. “We have everything from helping with the youth livestock show to assisting the judging of the static exhibits.”

The all-new Union Carson eatery, taphouse and coffee bar is scheduled to open Thursday, June 8 at 11 a.m., the establishment posted on its Facebook page Wednesday afternoon.

A new restaurant is opening in downtown Carson City, according to reports from the Reno Gazette-Journal and Nevada Appeal.

The Union — a partnership of Reno-based investors — is scheduled to open this summer at 302 North Carson Street, site of the old Lake Tahoe Brewing Company, which closed in January 2016 ahead of its owner Michael Candelario's arrest on fraud charges.

April showers are bringing some unusual blooms to the Legislative lawn. Join Prevent Child Abuse Nevada and Advocates to End Domestic Violence in the annual planting of the pinwheels. We should have a break from the rain by then, but it’ll still be a windy day. Stick around downtown for a special tour of our historic Capitol with Muscle Powered. WEDNESDAY:

It seems like overnight the crabapples have exploded into bloom. Take advantage of a beautiful day by joining one of the walks organized every Tuesday. An easy walk with Parks and Rec will take you along a portion of the Mexican Ditch Trail today. The Muscle Powered walk in early evening is more strenuous. Fathers will want to get moving if they plan on taking their daughter to the Carson High Father Daughter Dance this Friday. Swing by the High School office between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. for tickets or shoot an email to teacher Angila Golek to make sure they’re waiting at will call.

Like many of you, I have a weather app on my phone. It says to expect some snow this morning, so I’m hoping it’s a liar. Make Monday easy on yourself and let the Pizza Factory take care of dinner. A portion of today’s proceeds will be donated to Paul Guzetta, a 36 year old local man who is battling an infection in intensive care. Lending a hand to his wife and kids during this tough time is as easy as ordering a pizza (or one of their yummy salads or pasta.) Spring break week is winding to a close, and it’s ending on a soggy note. More of the wet stuff is on its way, but don’t let that stand in the way of a good time.
