The Spring has Sprung Show is on display until May 5 with 112 entries from Northern Nevada Artists. The Featured Artists also on display are Roxane Gleghorn with inspiring pieces of resin art embellished with gemstones and crystals and Kristy Dial with her award winning gourd creations. All three shows are open to the public from 12-4pm Tuesday through Sunday at the NAA Gallery at 449 W. King Street in Carson City.

Spring Art Reception at St. Mary’s Art Center

Join us and celebrate spring and the powerful works by Martin A. David and Shaun T. Griffin. Martin shares his "Evolutions" retrospective spanning the 1960's through today, with 98 pieces of his life's work. Shaun's "Border Stories" focus on borders, and the impact on migrants and society.

Our artisan gallery is also filled with stunning works from beaded Native American moccasins and drums to silk scarves, jewelry, poetry books, and more.

Admission is complimentary, light refreshments will be served.

Carson City outlines department closures, services available in response to coronavirus threat

Carson City officials are continuously monitoring the level of risk of COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) to the community. In close coordination with Carson City Health and Human Services, the City Manager’s Office along with City departments in an abundance of caution are coordinating the closure of some offices to take additional measures to slow the spread of respiratory viruses. As closures are announced please visit carson.org/covid19 for information and updates about government services.

The weekend has arrived, and it will be an exceptionally long one for the schoolkids of Carson City: spring break begins Monday. There’s a rumor of snowfall for this weekend, but it’s not expected to be too heavy in the valley. Don’t quote me on that, though, I’ve been wrong before. Break a leg to the Douglas students performing in ‘Game of Tiaras’ this weekend; the show sounds hilarious, but be warned, it’s not for kids. Leaves turning, wind blowing, and all things pumpkin sprouting up everywhere. It is absolutely autumn in Northern Nevada. Get ready for Halloween with your choice of pumpkin patches. Seeliger Elementary School is hosting theirs for the twenty-fifth year in a row. Take a trip on the V and T Steam Train at the Nevada Railroad Museum, actually take several trips. The annual Harvest Train event offers an all-day wristband that allows for as many rides as you’d like, in addition to museum admission. So many more fun activities are available to you, you’ll have to read on to see them all.

Don’t miss the exhibit by Su Limbert in the Legislative Gallery, the session is over and the exhibit closes at the end of the week. While you’re downtown head over to the BRIC building on Proctor for the BRIC Art 5 exhibit. By the Nevada State Museum you’ll find the Nevada Arts Council: their gallery is exhibiting Pasha Rashat.
