Carson High Booster Club receives a “boost” from the Carson Nugget

Carson City, NV—Carson High School football players will receive new helmets, shoulder pads and other equipment this year thanks to the generosity shown during the annual “Kick-Off Dinner” recently held at Carson Nugget.

At the start of each season, the Carson High Athletic Department and the Carson High Football Boosters raise money to support the program. This year the Carson Nugget provided the venue and split the revenue generated through the sale of alcohol to help the group generate income.

Crime Log: Man arrested for lewdness after alleged incident at motel

Carson City Sheriff's deputies have arrested the following individuals for felony or gross misdemeanor allegations:

  • Oscar John Stone, 49, a Woodland, Calif. man, at 12:30 a.m. Friday. Stone was arrested for gross lewdness after allegedly touching himself inappropriately while staring at a motel desk clerk. Bail is set at $2,500.
  • Solomon Tobias Jacoboni, 43, a Carson City man, at 7 a.m. today. Jacoboni was arrested for third-offense domestic battery. Bail is set at $10,000.

Crime Log: Unidentified man arrested after allegedly striking officer

Carson City Sheriff's deputies have arrested the following individuals based on gross misdemeanor or felony allegations:

  • An unidentified man (John Doe) was arrested at 2 a.m. Saturday morning near the Blue Bull for gross misdemeanor allegations of battery on an officer and misdemeanor allegations of obstruction. Another man was arrested at the same time for obstruction. Bail is set at $3,000 plus administrative fees.

Crime Log: Carson City man allegedly strikes pedestrian with vehicle after getting high

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested the following individuals for felony or gross misdemeanor allegations:

  • Stefen Davis, 19, a Carson City man, at 7 a.m. this morning. Davis was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs with substantial bodily harm, as well as misdemeanor allegations of possession of marijuana, minor consumption of alcohol, and due care. He is alleged to have struck a pedestrian, who was taken to the hospital with a severe neck injury. Bail has been set at $25,150 plus administrative fees.

Crime Log: Alleged hit and run leads to two arrests

Darin Dwight Rogers, 47, of Carson City, was arrested Saturday afternoon near the corner of Curry and 6th Street for felony DUI, misdemeanor hit and run, and misdemeanor driving on a revoked license.

According to the arrest report, a person called in to report that a vehicle had backed into his vehicle in a casino parking lot and left the scene. The reporting party followed the vehicle to a parking garage at Curry and 6th Street. When a Carson City Sheriff's deputy arrived, he found Rogers near the driver's side of the vehicle the reporting party alleged hit his.

Crime Log: Carson City man arrested after allegedly attempting to strangle ex-girlfriend

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested the following individuals for felony allegations over the weekend:

  • Kenneth H. Barksdale, 50, a Carson City resident, at around 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Barksdale was arrested for domestic battery/strangulation of his ex-girlfriend, as well as the misdemeanor allegation of violation of court sentencing. Bail has been set at $10,500 plus administrative fees.

Motorcyclist killed on Highway 50 east of Silver Springs

At approximately 9:30 PM, 06/07/12, a fatal traffic accident occurred on US 50 between Silver Springs and Fallon, Nevada near mile marker LY33.

Crime Log: Man arrested in Carson City for cocaine

Carson City Sheriff's deputies made the following felony or gross misdemeanor arrests over Memorial Day Weekend:

  • Joaquin Paul Gabriel Jr., 29, an electrician from San Jose, Calif., at 10:30 p.m. Friday. Gabriel was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), as well as misdemeanor allegations of possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail has been set at $4,100 plus administrative fees.

Crime Log: Carson City janitor arrested on statutory sexual seduction warrant

Carson City Sheriff's deputies have arrested the following persons for felony or gross misdemeanor allegations:

  • Garrett William Dayton Bowden, 20, a janitor from Carson City, for a gross misdemeanor statutory sexual seduction warrant in his name. Bail is set at $2,500.
  • Cynthia St. John, 38, a manager from Sparks, for third-offense DUI. St. John was also arrested for misdemeanor allegations of failure to maintain a single lane and improper turning. Bail is set at $10,000.

Crime Log: Carson City inmate destroys jail television set, injures fellow inmate

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested the following individuals for felony or gross misdemeanor allegations:

  • Jerald Fahey, 38, a current inmate at the Carson City Detention Facility, had the additional allegations of battery by a prisoner and gross misdemeanor destruction of jail property (a television set) added to his list of allegations after an incident at around 6 p.m. Saturday. An additional bail of $17,500 was levied.

Crime Log: Carson City woman violates protection order

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested Emma Jeanne Grim, 85, a Carson City retiree, at around 3 p.m. Monday afternoon. Grim was arrested for a violation of an extended protection order after she was alleged to have stood in the protected person's yard and began yelling at him. Bail has been set at $10,000.

The following individuals were also arrested for misdemeanor allegations:

  • A 68-year-old Reno man for first-offense DUI, failure to maintain a lane, and a basic speed violation.

Cycle Pub Nevada comes to Carson City

About a year and a half ago, I met Mike Ball down at the Tap Shack, a little hole in the wall bar in downtown Carson City. He and a couple other of my friends were discussing building a bar on wheels that could be pedaled around town. While it sounded very cool, I passed it off as one of those crazy ideas that bubbles up after a few pints of beer. Something akin to quitting your job and backpacking across Spain, or the ultimate bank heist. It sounded like too much effort to me.

Crime Log: inmates allegedly attack other inmate at Carson City jail

An incident at the Carson City Detention Facility on Monday afternoon led to felony allegations of battery by a prisoner to be added to the list of allegations for two prisoners: Lauren Kaye Smith and Kelly Lynn Davis. The two women are alleged to have attacked another female inmate. Bail has been set at $20,000 for each woman.

  • Ashley Ore-Larson, 18, a Carson City woman, for conspiracy to violation the controlled substances act and possession of heroin. Ore-Larson was also arrested for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail has been set at $18,500 plus administrative fees. Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested the following individuals for felony allegations:

  • Charity Michael Rife, 35, a Sparks woman, was transferred to the Carson City Detention Facility from the Northern Nevada Correctional Facility on the following warrants out of Carson City: obtaining and using a false ID to avoid imprisonment; theft; burglary (two counts; uttering forged instruments (three counts); and theft from $250 - $2,500 (two counts). Bail is set at $50,000.

Crime Log: Carson City man arrested for sexual assault on a minor

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested the following individuals on felony or gross misdemeanor allegations over the weekend:

  • Michael Eric Irwin, 26, a Carson City resident, was transported to the Carson City Detention Facility for allegations of lewdness with a child under 14, and two allegations of sexual assault of a child under 14. Irwin was arrested in Washoe County and transported to the CCDF at approximately 9:30 Friday evening. A warrant for Irwin's arrest was issued on March 26, 2012 by the Carson City Justice Court. Bail is set at $150,000.

Carson City Sheriff's deputies made several arrests for felony or gross misdemeanor allegations over the weekend, including:

  • William W. Hornbeck, 41, a Carson City plumber, for three felony failure to appear warrants in his name. No bail has been set. At the same time, deputies arrested Eduardo Juarez Leon, 42, a Carson City man, for felony harboring a fugitive. Bail in that case is set at $10,000.

Some Nevada Welfare Recipients Have Fun on Taxpayer Dime But Most Spending Appropriate

CARSON CITY – There are a few withdrawals in vacation destinations like New Orleans and Hawaii. There are a few from such tourist locations as Angel Stadium in Anaheim, SeaWorld San Diego and Pier 39 in San Francisco.

There are about 1,600 withdrawals in more than 35 states and the territory of Guam. And there are about 100 withdrawals at liquor stores and quite a few at Nevada casinos or slot parlors.

Crime Log: Carson City deputies arrest couple for kidnapping allegations

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested several people for felony allegations this weekend, as well as one man on a gross misdemeanor allegation.

  • Patrick William "Roach" Ouellette, 29, an unemployed Reno man, for felony warrants in his name of 1st degree kidnapping with the use of a deadly weapon, second degree kidnapping with the use of a deadly weapon, battery with a deadly weapon, and assault with a deadly weapon. Duellette was also alleged to have committed felony extortion, which carries a $250,000 bail charge.

NHP trooper suffers minor injuries after patrol car hit by alleged DUI driver

A Nevada Highway Patrol officer suffered minor injuries after being hit by a driver who was allegedly under the influence at the intersection of Highway 395 and State Route 88 early Saturday morning.
NHP Trooper Dan Lopez was driving a Ford Crown Victoria sedan patrol call when the driver of another vehicle allegedly ran a red traffic signal at the intersection striking the left side of the patrol car at 5:19 a.m., said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen.

Crime Log for February 14: Carson City's SET makes major drug bust

Members of the Special Enforcement Team for the Carson City Sheriff's Office arrested Brandi L. Petty, 31, a Carson City home care specialist, just prior to 5 p.m. Saturday. Petty was arrested near the 1000 block of East Second Street as the result of an ongoing investigation.

Deputies approached the residence with the intent to serve the warrant and discovered two video cameras, one disguised as a birdhouse. Knocking several times on the front door yielded no result, so the officers proceded to enter the residence through the back door. A search yielded drugs and paraphernalia.

Crime Log for Feb. 1

Carson City Sheriff's deputies Kelli Deann Owen-Self, 48, a Dayton woman, for a felony no-bail probation violation at around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday evening in the 1600 block of Medical Parkway. When the officer arrived, Owen-Self allegedly smelled heavily of alcohol. No bail is set.

At approximately 4 p.m. Tuesday an emergency call was placed from the Warm springs Correctional Facility regarding an officer assaulted by two inmates. The officer was described as having some bleeding but being fully alert. The emergency call was then cancelled.

There are many risk factors for heart disease: high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, cigarette smoking, overweight and obesity, poor diet, physical inactivity and alcohol use. Many of these risk factors can be modified or eliminated by choosing to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Man found guilty of assault on Carson City Sheriff's deputy

Daniel Lane Holley, 39, has been found guilty of Assaulting a Police Officer stemming from a September 30, 2011 domestic disturbance at Holley’s west side Carson City residence.

Carson City Sheriff’s deputies were called to Holley’s residence at approximately 5:30 p.m. on September 30, 2011, after a neighbor called 9-1-1 to report a loud disturbance coming from the house. Holley was gone when deputies arrived, but his girlfriend reported that Holley was very intoxicated and had been causing a disturbance at the house and in front of their infant child.

Walnut Creek man dies after being struck by CHP patrol SUV at Lake Tahoe

UPDATED 11:30AM: A 21-year-old Walnut Creek, Calif. man was struck and killed by a California Highway Patrol vehicle early Sunday morning, New Year's Day, on Highway 50 near Stateline at Lake Tahoe, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
The accident happened between Lake Village and Elks Point Road and was reported around 12:40 a.m. Sunday morning, said NHP Troopers Mike Edgell and Chuck Allen. The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released pending notification of family, died at the scene of the accident.

Fallon man sentenced for felony poaching

A Nevada man pled guilty of felony poaching on Tuesday, stemming from a case discovered January 7 of this year, when a mule deer was illegally shot and left to rot near Fallon.
Chad R. Blumhagen, 27, of Fallon pled guilty to unlawful killing of a big game animal during a closed season and without a tag.
He was sentenced in Churchill County District Court to a suspended jail sentence of 12-32 months and was given five years probation.
Blumhagen was also prohibited from hunting or fishing for the duration of his probation and cannot be associated with anyone hunting or fishing.
