The Carson City Sheriff's Office reports the following recent arrests. Those facing charges are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has completed the investigation regarding the fatal accident that claimed the life of a four-year-old Gardnerville boy, Mason Geist, on Feb. 24.

Dayton man dies in rollover Jeep accident in Lyon County

A rollover on Friday night five miles east of Dayton has left one dead and two hospitalized, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office reports.
George Lawrence Ambrose, 21, of Dayton died at the scene of the accident, officers said. The crash, happened around 11:15 p.m. on Ft. Churchill Road.

Woman facing felony drug warrant jailed after being found hiding in a closet

A 19-year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Thursday morning and faces two felony charges including a drug court warrant and being in violation of probation.

Ashley Claire Ore was arrested at 12:23 a.m. in the 1500 block of North Edmonds. According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to the area regarding a fight in an apartment complex. As officers arrived, Ore was identified by officers as having felony warrants for her arrest.

Officers spoke with several residents in the apartment complex who denied any physical fighting, according to the arrest report.

Man hiding in garbage can arrested, faces misdemeanor charges

A 32-year-old Carson City man faces misdemeanor charges of being in violation of a suspended sentence and possessing drug paraphernalia after he was found by deputies early Tuesday hiding in a garbage can.

The man was arrested at 5:39 a.m. in the 4000 block of Pheasant Drive. According to the arrest report, officers responded to the area in reference to an unwanted subject. On arrival officers made contact with a woman who stated that she let her ex-roommate move back in with her.

Active weekend for Carson City authorities with vandalism discovery, DUI and drug-related arrests

Carson City authorities remained busy over the weekend, making several DUI and drug-related arrests.
Officers responded to cases involving stalking, threats and assault, arrest records from this weekend show. Also, the investigation continues into Sunday's vandalism discovery on the west side of Carson City where several vehicles, a church, school and homes were damaged either by BB gun shots or rocks.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said that as of Monday morning reports of vandalism were still coming into the sheriff's office. There have been up to about a dozen reports of vandalism done to cars, houses, schools, businesses and a church, he said.

A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning on misdemeanor charges after he allegedly stalked his ex-girlfriend, made threats, obsessively sent text messages and then shattered the glass door of her home after punching it.

One arrest was for witness intimidation and threats allegedly made by an inmate in the city's jail, while another arrest was made after a man reportedly threw a wrench at a Jeep, smashing the window, while a 2-year-old was inside.

A Washoe Valley woman faces felony drug and weapons charges after being stopped by Carson City patrol officers Wednesday for driving while talking on a cell phone and not wearing a seat belt.

Tina Marie Scott, 46, was arrested at Industrial Park and Hawaii Circle 5:17 p.m. after patrol officers observed the violations and then, doing a subsequent check, found drugs, money and a handgun.

Carson City man jailed after attempting to steal shopping cart full of merchandise

An unemployed 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday and faces felony charges including burglary and possession of a dangerous weapon after attempting to steal 49 items valued at $741 from Walmart.

Anthony Wayne Harris was arrested in the 3200 block of Market Street at 11:01 p.m. According to the arrest report a cashier stopped the man after he was seen leaving the store with a shopping cart full of merchandise.

Carson City sheriff's deputies make drug and burglary-related arrests

Drug crimes, burglary, child neglect and a third DUI offense made up the bulk of this weekend's felony-related arrests, Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies report.

Two men were arrested Sunday and face felony charges after attempting to steal air compressors from a vacant Carson City building. Arrested were Geoffrey Earl Meudt, 39, of Gardnerville and Steven Walter Cozad, 30, of Wellington, Nev. Both are being held and face charges of being in possession of burglary tools and gross misdemeanor charges of conspiracy to commit theft.

Carson City authorities make multiple weekend arrests

A 39-year-old Las Vegas man faces a felony burglary charge after allegedly clipping security tags off several items of clothing at a Carson City department store and putting them on underneath his clothes.

Anthony Abruzzo was arrested Feb. 17, 8:28 p.m. in the 3800 block of Carson Street after security from a local department store called authorities about the man was believed to be taking shoes.

Carson City authorities make felony drug trafficking arrest

A Carson City man was arrested and faces multiple felony drug charges after authorities found 14 grams of meth hidden in the man's underwear.

Eduardo Segura, 27, was arrested at Hot Springs Road and Roop at 10 a.m. Feb. 8. He was pulled over because of a vehicle license plate that was missing. Upon contact, officers recognized him because of other entanglements with the law including time in prison that involved a Carson City shooting in which he was deported to Mexico following the sentence, the arrest report states.

A 25-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Feb. 7, 7:04 p.m. in the 400 block of Simone Avenue on an outstanding felony warrant out of Douglas County.

Man jailed after police foot chase through Carson City restaurant

A 44-year-old Carson City man was arrested after officers were led in a foot pursuit that went inside a busy local restaurant. The man, identified as Tony Clarence Wilson, was tasered on the patio of the establishment located in the 1000 block of South Carson Street.

Wilson faces a felony charge of being a felon in possession of ammunition and misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of a suspended sentence. The arrest happened Feb. 1 at 8:30 p.m.

The Sagebrushers: Comstock-era writers took their booze and news to the limit

Alfred Doten had one of the longest tenures of any Sagebrusher in the history of the Comstock. His Nevada career began at Como in 1863, and ended 40 years later with his death in Carson City in 1903.  Today Doten is remembered for the journals he wrote spanning 54 years documenting his career and personal experiences. Seventy years after his death, the University of Nevada Press published a massive three volume set, weighing a hefty 14 1/2 pounds, titled: “The Journals of Alfred Doten 1849-1903.”

Carson City officers arrest man in tow truck going 95 mph with emergency lights on

A 57-year-old Carson City caregiver was arrested early Friday morning after deputies clocked the man doing at least 95 mph in a 55 mph zone.
The incident happened at 4:47 a.m. The man was arrested at the intersection of Highway 50 and Flint Road. He faces a misdemeanor speeding charge, as well as misdemeanor reckless wanton driving, and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.

DUI enforcement stepped up for Super Bowl Sunday

Law enforcement agencies in Carson City and across Northern Nevada will team up Super Bowl Sunday and increase the number of patrol officers roads and highways looking for impaired motorists.

With a federally funded “joining forces” grant secured by the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety, additional law enforcement personnel from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Nevada Highway Patrol, and the Reno and Sparks police departments will be on overtime shifts saturating the region Sunday afternoon and evening looking for motorists who may be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Carson City man jailed after trying to cash fake $100 bill at casino

A 24-year-old Carson City man faces a felony charge of attempting to cash a counterfeit $100 bill at a casino in the 500 block of North Carson Street.

Kevin Frederick Repass was arrested Jan. 24, at 5:32 p.m. According to a Carson City Sheriff's Office report, security at the casino detained Repass for trying to break the phony $100 bill, asking for $20 bills. He told casino security that he had received the $100 bill from another casino, the report states.

Dayton man tasered, jailed for punching Carson City deputy in the face

A 26-year-old Dayton man was arrested and faces felony charges of battery on a police officer and probation violation after he allegedly punched a Carson City deputy twice in the face with a closed fist.

Christopher Scholl was arrested at 2 a.m., Thursday in the 1700 block of Fair Way after a foot chase with officers. According to the arrest report, officers were patrolling the area of Empire Ranch Road and Morgan Mill Road. A vehicle entered the Empire Ranch neighborhood and began driving around and came to stop in front of a home on Fair Way.

Carson City man identified in fatal Highway 395 vehicle crash south of Gardnerville

A 31-year-old Carson City man, Jaron W. Malone, has been identified as the victim in a two-vehicle crash Monday on Highway 395 at Riverview Drive south of Gardnerville in Douglas County, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.

Carson City man dies in Highway 395 crash near Gardnerville

Alcohol is suspected as a factor in a fatal crash Monday night on Highway 395 three miles south of Gardnerville in Douglas County that killed a 31-year-old Carson City man, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.

The crash was reported at 10:05 p.m. The preliminary crash investigation details a blue 1995 Ford 4-door sedan, driven by the Carson City man, was pulling out from the driveway of the 7-Eleven store near Riverview Drive and Highway 395, said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen.

Carson City sheriff reports stabbing victim at house party taken to hospital

A 22-year-old Carson City man was stabbed and suffered a puncture to the lungs in a fight that happened at a New Year's Eve house party on Rex Circle late Monday night, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong reports.

The man, Adam Gaudette, was flown by Care Flight and was at last report in stable condition, said Furlong. Arrested was Leo Reyes Jacinto, 33, who faces a charge of battery with a deadly weapon. He is being held on $30,000 bail.

NHP reports few DUI arrests during critical New Year's celebration hours

More than 275 traffic enforcement stops were made by Nevada Highway Patrol troopers on Northern Nevada highways in a 10-hour period from 7 pm Monday until 5 am Tuesday morning.

Only seven motorists, or roughly three percent, stopped during that timeframe were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Many of those motorists stopped were designated drivers for passengers riding in the vehicle who were celebrating the New Year and had already consumed alcohol.
