Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting an additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County region on Monday, Nov. 23, 2020. The individual was a Carson City resident. CCHHS is also reporting 35 new cases and 36 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 2,993, with 2,219 recoveries and 33 deaths; 741 cases remain active.

Nevada adds jobs back in October; unemployment rate improvement moderate

CARSON CITY — Employment in Nevada increased over the month by 3,600 jobs as the state continues to recover. Jobs still remain below typical levels, down by 117,200 compared to October 2019, for an annual rate of -8.2 percent according to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s October 2020 economic report.

Evacuations lifted following wildfire in Foothill and Mottsville areas of Douglas County

UPDATE 6:43 p.m. Voluntary evacuations have been lifted. Motsville Road remains closed but should be opening soon, according to the Douglas County government Facebook page.

The Nevada COVID Task Force has notified Lyon County that they are to remain flagged for elevated COVID test positivity rates. October 12, 2020 Lyon County saw a test positivity of 8.2 percent and has experienced an increase week after week since then. As of Monday, Lyon County sits at a rate of 19.0 percent.

We are reporting 25 new cases and 12 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 2,244, with 1,904 recoveries and 27 deaths; 313 cases remain active.

Governor Sisolak announces positive COVID-19 test result

As part of a regular testing protocol, Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak underwent routine COVID-19 testing on Friday, November 13 in Carson City. A rapid test provided a positive result. The Governor also received a diagnostic PCR test and those results are pending at this time.

At this time, the Governor is not experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms. Earlier this week, the Governor expressed feeling fatigue, however he attributed this to his demanding schedule. No other symptoms were experienced.

Small airplane makes emergency landing near Carson City's Fremont Elementary, no injuries reported
