Two food drives are happening Thursday at two locations in Carson City. One drive is to collect Thanksgiving turkeys for families in need, and the other is a drive to help feed family pets.
Friends In Service Helping, also known as FISH, is hosting its annual “High Five Turkey Drive” this Thursday, Nov. 12 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Nissan Carson City, 2750 S Carson St.
Help FISH provide a “Holiday for the Hungry” this Thanksgiving season. Donate a frozen turkey (sides are welcome too!) or $10 and organizers can do the shopping for you.
Also happening Thursday is a pet food donation drive and adoption event for the Nevada Humane Society from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Carson City Toyota.
In addition to accepting donations to help care for homeless pets, Carson City Toyota will also host an offsite adoptions event hoping to find homes for some of the Nevada Humane Society shelter pets.
To donate pet food and/or adopt a pet, go to Carson City Toyota, 2590 S. Carson Street, Carson City, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Nov. 12.
Some of the most needed items for the Carson City shelter are wet kitten food, dry adult cat food, dog leashes, quality canned dog food, and cat and dog toys.
