Carson City man jailed for driving with suspended registration, refusing to pull over

A 36-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the area of S. Edmonds Lane and S. Lompa Lane for misdemeanor driving with suspended registration, no proof of insurance, department of alternative sentencing violation of suspended sentence and violation of bail conditions after refusing to stop when deputies attempted to pull him over.

According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office report, deputies were patrolling in the area when they witnessed an unregistered vehicle drive past them in the opposite direction. A deputy turned their patrol vehicle around and approached the rear of the pickup at the intersection of Edmonds and Fairview.

The officer activated their overhead lights and the truck accelerated west on Fairview Drive in an aggressive manner, the report states. The deputy then activated the siren in addition to the lights, and which point the driver turned north onto S. Lompa Lane and stuck his left arm out and pointed to the right.

The deputy deactivated the siren but kept the overhead lights on, and the truck continued to drive. Deputies activated their siren again, and again the driver pointed toward the right, but continued to drive, according to the report.

Officers followed the vehicle as it turned southwest onto S. Edmonds Drive and continued another .1 miles for a total of .5 miles without stopping before puling into the side yard of a residence.

Deputies made contact with the driver and asked why he didn’t stop. He told deputies he was testing out his truck as he had just fixed the transmission in the truck, and he did not want the truck towed and wanted to get it home.

A records check showed that the vehicle’s registration was suspended and the driver was unable to provide any proof of insurance.

Dispatch advised the man was on supervision with the Department of Alternative Sentencing, and they asked he be placed on a violations hold. Bail: $5,486.

— A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested for a failure to appear traffic ticket issued from the Carson City Justice Court on Aug. 8.

According to the report, deputies were dispatched to a residence on report of an unwanted subject. The reporting party stated that their friend, the 28-year-old, had been staying with them at their house for several months, but they no longer wanted him there, as he smoked marijuana in the house with children nearby. The reporting party said they had been allowing him to stay in the house for a few months because they wanted to help him out, but they wanted him out.

Deputies told the reporting party that because he had been living there for several months, they would need to evict him through the civil eviction process.

However, dispatch advised that the man had a confirmed warrant out of the Nevada Patrol Office for $855 cash only for failing to appear on a traffic ticket.

On arrival, deputies made contact with the man who said he and his roommate had had a small argument, but that he lived there and didn’t want to leave. He was taken into custody on the warrant without issue. Bail: $855 cash only.
