Carson City arrests: Argument over divorce papers results in arrest for alleged domestic battery
A 24-year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Thursday morning in the 900 block of South Roop Street for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery, a sheriff's deputy report states.
According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the residence for a report of a domestic battery. The male victim told deputies the suspect had come to the residence to sign divorce papers. He said he told his wife, who came in from California, that she could stay the night at his place until the next morning when they would go and sign divorce papers. He said the two began drinking and then began to argue upstairs.
He said he went downstairs to avoid further conflict and that's when he told deputies the woman followed him and began hitting him with her open hands. He said he was struck in the face, shoulder and back. Deputies observed a red swollen mark on his cheek and scratch marks on the back of his shoulders and across his upper back, the arrest report states.
The female suspect was interviewed, and said the two were drinking, and that her husband wrote up conditions for the divorce and that she did not agree with them. She told officers she wanted to go to sleep and take care of the divorce papers the next day. She said the male became upset, the report states.
The suspect was asked if the male had become physical. She said he hit her on the side of the head while she was on the phone. She said she that she called police and he called police at the same time. Deputies did not observe marks or swelling on the suspect.
The woman asked for medical attention. She was assessed as OK by Carson City Fire Department. Deputies observed the woman's hand had two broken fingernails. She was asked how she had broken her fingernails and she said defending herself from the male, the arrest report states.
The arresting officer determined that a domestic battery had occurred and that the female was the primary aggressor. She was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail; $3,137.
In other arrests:
— A 30-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of possession of false identification, a felony, and lesser offenses.
Edeimira Rameriez-Muniz was arrested at 8:30 a.m. in the area of East William and State Street. She also faces charges of failure to yield right of way on a left turn, and driving without a valid driver's license, both misdemeanor offenses.
According to the arrest report, a deputy made a traffic stop for a failure to yield offense. As the woman was retrieving her identification from her wallet, she was in possession of a social security card that was different in name than what was on her identification card, the arrest report states.
Dispatch alerted there was no match to either the social security card or the ID card, the arrest report states. She was arrested and admitted to a deputy she purchased the false social security card and permanent resident identification so she could work and take care of her family. Bail: $10,000.
— A 39-year-old Dayton man turned himself into the sheriff's office Wednesday for a misdemeanor warrant alleging petit larceny. Bail: $1,000.
— A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday in the 1800 block of North Edmonds for a misdemeanor bench warrant for violation of a suspended sentence. The warrant was issued Dec. 11, 2019 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
