Carson City arrests: Man booked for burglary after allegedly breaking into home of friend
An 18-year-old Gardnerville man was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of felony burglary and misdemeanor petit larceny, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Keanu Rhune Blumenthal was taken into custody in the area of Meadow Lane and Marsh Road at approximately 9:38 a.m. According to the booking report, the man is suspected of entering the home of a friend by kicking in a door, demanding a vape pen, putting the friend in a choke hold, taking his smart phone chargers and a tricycle that belonged to his grandmother.
The suspect, who was carrying a shovel and walking when located by sheriff's deputies, was told to stop. The man ignored deputies commands for him to stop, and then challenged them to deploy their tasers. Deputies asked the man to put the shovel down and talk to them. The man put the shovel on the tricycle and complied with demands to speak. The man was asked where he got the tricycle. He told officers he found it in a field.
Other deputies conducting an investigation stated there was evidence of a crime and Blumenthal was placed into custody for suspicion of burglary and petit larceny. Bail: $20,000.
In other arrests:
— A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Thursday for suspicion of a second DUI, violation of a suspended sentence and careless driving.
According to the arrest report, a deputy observed a vehicle drifting as they were driving in the parking lot of a grocery store. A deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, who had red watery eyes and a smell of alcohol coming from the vehicle.
The driver identified himself and said he drank a shot of vodka in the parking lot of a convenience store across the street. He stated he had a mechanical issue with his e-brake on the vehicle and wanted to make sure the e-brake was functional.
He was asked to exit the vehicle and complete standardized field sobriety testing. The man complied. The officer could detect an odor of alcohol coming from his person, the arrest report states.
The man showed signs of impairment on the tests and provided a preliminary breath test of .228 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Bail: $3,869.
— A 55-year-old Carson City man, Stephen Charles Wilhoite, was arrested Wednesday for a felony arrest warrant allegedly theft. The warrant was issued Oct. 1, 2021 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $5,000.
