$1.14 million for Carson City projects to be discussed at Dec. 20 Board of Supervisors meeting
On Thursday, Dec. 20, the Carson City Board of Supervisors will meet at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center to discuss changes, funding and projects for Carson City.
The Sierra Room is located at the Carson City Community Center at 851 East William Street.
On the docket for the meeting, among other projects, is the decision to approve $1,140,249.59 of funding for various projects and upgrades.
The amounts are broken down below:
— Eight additional Body Worn Camera Systems to be purchased for the Carson City Sheriff’s Office for an additional amount of $22,691.08 over a five-year period to be funded from the 911 Surcharge Fund.
— Four portable generators, Caterpillar XQ425 to be specific, if approved, will be purchased for Public Works to be used in supporting critical water production facilities and sewer lift stations during power outages. The cost would not exceed $797,828, which is planned to be funded from the Sewer and Water Funds and reimbursed by a Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security Grant.
— A contract to improve the Sierra Room, if approved, would upgrade the audio, video, and recording technology. The contract amount is $197,445.89 plus a contingency amount of $19,744.59. This amount would be funded from the IT budget.
— A purchase of software migration services with Tiburon/TriTech to implement the National Incident-Based Reporting System would result in an amount of $102,540.
This is a required update from the FBI; the Carson City Sheriff’s Office was using the Uniform Crime Reporting data system, but now the FBI issued a requirement to use the NIBRS data management system.
In other areas:
— A potential zoning amendment will be presented, which would approve a change of zoning for a 119.1 acre site from General Industrial to Single Family 6,000 for approximately 68.3 acres; Multi-family Apartment for approximately 18.0 acres; General Commercial for approximately 13.9 acres; and Public Regional for approximately 18.9 acres, for property located southeast of U.S. Highway 50 and northeast of Deer Run Road.
Additionally, a request for a Tentative Subdivision Map application will be submitted to create 270 single family residential lots, nine common area parcels, three remainder parcels, and approximately 13.36 acres of right-of-way within a 119.1 acre project area, located southeast of U.S. Highway 50 and northeast of Deer Run Road.
— The Carson City Health and Human Services Department is looking for authorization to apply for a Title X Family Planning Services Grant through the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health, Office of Population Affairs. Funds will be awarded in annual increments and generally for a project period of up to three years. The purpose is provide family planning and preventative health services; funds from this grant would be used to continue a core program that has been administered since 2009.
— Public Works is looking to approve the 30 percent design of the South Carson Complete Streets Project and to have the project advanced to the 60 percent design stage.
