KNVC’s My Soul University to discuss Karma Boxes, overcoming addiction and more Sunday
Do you believe that what goes around comes around? If not, you will after listening to Grant Denton’s story. Denton founded the Karma Box Project in Reno, after overcoming addiction and homelessness.
His now widely-adopted brainchild of using brightly painted donation boxes, and installing them throughout the region, provides the opportunity for caring people to place non-perishable food, hygiene products, toiletries, and other useful items in the boxes so that anyone struggling with hunger or housing can readily take whatever they need.
You will not want to miss hearing how Denton reclaimed his life during this Sunday’s My Soul University Radio Hour on December 12, at 5:00 PM—airing live on 95.1 FM and streaming at www.knvc.org. Hosted by Kitty McKay and moderated by Ken Farley, the show features the heartfelt storytelling of guests who have transformed their toughest of times into an expanded, more purposeful version of themselves.
By exploring the ripples of impact resulting from their difficult times, listeners discover greater understanding, purpose, and even gratitude, for their own struggles.
Denton has also been named a Reno Superhero for his work with the Downtown Reno Partnership. He currently works as an outreach coordinator for the Nevada Cares Campus, a homeless shelter in Reno.
“The word resilience pops up in a lot of conversations these days. But Grant isn’t the kind of guy sitting around and talking. He’s too busy living his ‘True Grit’. His story of working through recovery from meth/heroin addiction and out of homelessness, to become an award-winning champion of healing in northern Nevada, is riveting and moving,” said McKay.
“He’s also created a way to support our neighbors in need with ‘Karma Boxes’ in key locations throughout our region. When you tune in on Sunday, Grant’s story is certain to put you more in touch with your own inner strength.”
