Drift smoke possible due to pile burning at Lake Tahoe's east shore
Conditions and weather permitting, U.S. Forest Service firefighters will be burning piles beginning today, Thursday, on the East Shore to remove excess vegetation (fuels) that can feed wildfires. Smoke will be present and may affect the following areas through this weekend: Hwy 50 on the East Shore, Glenbrook, Spooner Summit and Carson City.
Check air quality at airnow.gov. Other agencies may also be burning. View a map with project locations and details here.
