Carson City man jailed as suspect in antique store burglary
A 67-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday for suspicion of felony burglary and drug charges, according to a sheriff's booking report.
Jim Andre McSurdy was arrested in the 900 block of South Carson Street. He was also arrested for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the arrest report, a detective responded Nov. 30 to a commercial burglary call in the 100 block of South Curry Street. The detective reviewed surveillance and observed the suspect exit the antique store from a bathroom window with a large trash bag filled with items.
The suspect's description was provided to CCSO patrol deputies. Two deputies stated they believed the suspect was McSurdy, whom they have had previous contacts before. Earlier they had contacted the suspect at a casino. A description of the suspect matched from the burglary and the man they contacted . Surveillance from the casino showed the same physical descriptions, the report states.
On Dec. 4 a sheriff's deputy was sent to a casino in the 900 block of South Carson Street where the suspect was sitting. The arresting deputy contacted the detective, who gave specifics on the case, and was informed him there was probable cause to arrest the man for burglary.
McSurdy was arrested for suspicion of burglary. During a search of the man, officers located suspected methamphetamine wrapped in tinfoil in a mint container. Also located with a meth pipe. Bail: $23,637.

— A 23-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Dec. 3 for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery.
According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the 1200 block of East Fifth Street regarding a domestic battery.
Deputies had been at the residence a day earlier for a domestic dispute. The reporting party called dispatch stating his friend contacted them and said the male victim was being battered by his girlfriend. Upon arrival, the victim was outside and the suspect inside. One deputy spoke with the victim, while another deputy spoke with the suspect. Officers learned the two had been arguing earlier in the day.
According to the victim, the woman grabbed his Playstation from the wall and held it over her head saying she was going to smash it. He stated he told the woman he wanted his stuff and was going to leave. He stated he "snatched" the Playstation from the woman's hands, which she then began to punch him in the back of the head. The officer did not observe any marks on his head. He stated the woman then bit him and ripped his shirt. A deputy observed a bite mark on the man's right forearm as well as a large rip in his sleeve on his left arm, the report states.
Officers interviewed the woman, who said the male wouldn't let her leave a room as she tried to leave, that she pushed him after he allegedly pushed and held her against the wall, the report states. She stated she hit him in the back of the head "a couple times" and pushed him off of her, and then bit him.
The suspect stated the male grabbed the Playstation from her and when she attempted to grab it back, he allegedly pushed her. The woman did not have any marks or injuries on her. She was determined to be the primary aggressor and was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.
