2018 annual report provides snapshot of Nevada Judiciary
CARSON CITY — The Supreme Court of Nevada and the Administrative Office of the Courts released Wednesday its 2018 Annual Report of the Nevada Judiciary on the Supreme Court.
The 44-page report that can be found here, features the work of Nevada’s courts, including technological achievements, court improvements, and judicial education. Judicial programs and commissions are highlighted to reveal efforts to improve the efficiency and transparency of the courts. The report also provides a caseload overview of Nevada’s appellate courts and the 11 judicial districts for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2018.
The Annual Report shows interesting statistics and facts about the number and types of cases adjudicated in the courts for fiscal year 2018, including:
• The total number of Nevada trial court filings exceeded 835,000;
• District court non-traffic cases per judicial position averaged 1,691;
• Nevada Appellate Courts issued 112 authored opinions and 2,583 court orders;
• More than 300,000 electronic document transactions were sent to the Department of Public Safety (DPS); and,
• More than 6,500 people were served in Nevada’s specialty courts.
“This report provides a glimpse of the workload placed upon the Judiciary,” said Chief Justice Michael L. Douglas. “It allows us to demonstrate the work necessary to accomplish our mission of 'Liberty and Justice for All,' and show our commitment to provide excellent service.”
The AOC distributes copies of the printed document to area libraries for public review. The public can obtain a printed copy of the annual report at the Administrative Office of the Courts offices in Carson City or Las Vegas.
