Carson City man booked following standoff with SWAT and deputies
A Carson City man was arrested Tuesday for multiple offenses related to a standoff that happened at a Morgan Mill Road residence in which multiple shots were fired inside and outside a home that was occupied by a 73-year-old woman, a sheriff's deputy report states.
Christoper M. Conti, 39, was taken into custody and later charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon, gross misdemeanor discharging a weapon where a person may be endangered, misdemeanor drawing a weapon in a threatening manner, possession of a firearm under the influence and domestic battery.
The incident began at around 8:15 a.m. where the man had reportedly threatened suicide with a knife inside the home, which was occupied by the woman. See the original story here.
The woman went into hiding inside a bedroom after she was threatened with the knife. The man then allegedly produced a gun and began shooting. According to the booking report, investigators learned the man shot approximately 10 times from a .45 caliber revolver, both inside and outside the residence in the backyard, the arrest report states.
Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies attempted to talk the man to coming outside the home. The man exited the residence and was ordered to drop the gun. The man yelled for officers to shoot him. At that point SWAT deployed bean bag rounds, striking the man in the right thigh, where he dropped his gun. SWAT took him into custody.
The man had been drinking and a preliminary breath test was administered with a reading of .248. Three blood samples were collected at the hospital where he underwent evaluations and then was taken to jail. Total bail amount listed: $27,411.
In other arrests:
— A 31-year-old Gardnerville man, who was booked at the Carson City Jail on an unrelated charge, was served a warrant out of Douglas County's Ninth Judicial District Court. Bail: $3,000.
