Carson City deputies make arrests for burglary, obstructing, drugs and DUI
A 53-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday for felony warrants alleging burglary and obtaining money or goods under false pretenses, a sheriff's deputy said.
Michael Stehlin was arrested at 8:39 a.m. in the 1800 block of Brown Street for the felony warrants issued July 9, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $20,000.
In other arrests:
— Two people listed as transients, Ronald Vincent Nigra and Aubree Lyn Daggs, was arrested Wednesday, 12:33 p.m. at Second and Carson streets for suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance and lesser charges.
According to the arrest report, a deputy made a traffic stop after a routine registration check on a vehicle going southbound on Carson Street came back as suspended. The driver of the vehicle accelerated and attempted to get away when the deputy activated his overhead lights.
The driver eventually stopped. When he opened the door a syringe was observed in the driver’s door pouch. The officer asked the man and passenger Daggs to get back into the vehicle after they attempted to exit the vehicle. The deputy placed the man under arrested for attempting to flee the traffic stop. He was read his Miranda warning and agreed to speak.
He was asked why he attempted to flee. He said Daggs was afraid she had a warrant and asked him to get away so she could get out of the car. He said the woman is a meth user. The woman gave the officer permission to search her purse, where officers located glass pipes, multiple piece of foil with black residue, clear plastic bags with brown residue, and clear plastic bags with white residue, consistent with methamphetamine and heroin use. At jail, deputies recovered additional methamphetamine on the woman’s person.
The deputy asked the man about the syringes in the vehicle, as well as a glass pipe and cotton balls with brown residue, consistent with heroin use. The man admitted he was a frequent heroin user. Both were arrested. Nigra was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, suspended registration and obstructing. Bail: $4,161. Daggs was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $3,637.
— A 25-year-old Las Vegas woman was arrested early Thursday, 6:17 a.m. in the 2700 block of South Carson Street for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, and reckless driving.
According to the arrest report, deputies were sent to a motel on South Carson Street regarding a woman reportedly screaming. Dispatch received a second call, from a man, who said his girlfriend was the one screaming, that she was intoxicated, possibly suicidal and had left the motel in a Dodge pickup.
A deputy located the pickup, which appeared to have spun out at the intersection of North Stewart and South Carson Street. The vehicle, going northbound, crossed over the median between north and southbound traffic as the deputy attempted make a traffic stop. The woman accelerated to speeds of approximately 60 mph in a 35 mph zone, then turned east on Sonoma Drive and then pulled into the parking lot of the motel she had left from earlier.
The woman was uncooperative, yelling and screaming. Deputies could smell a moderate odor of alcohol coming from her breath as she was screaming. After several attempts at trying to calm the woman down, she was placed in the back of a patrol vehicle.
She was asked if she would participated in a field sobriety tests but would not acknowledge deputies were speaking with her. She was taken to jail and an on-duty judge was contacted for a search warrant that would allow a blood draw. The warrant was granted and blood samples were taken. Bail: $1,774.
