Nevada unemployment rate stays put at 5.4 percent in October, Carson City at 4.4 percent
Nevada's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.4 percent in October 2023 which was unchanged from September 2023, according to the state's Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s monthly economic report.
Seasonally adjusted estimates account for regularly seen economic patterns, with the following estimates not seasonally adjusted.
In the three Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA), the October 2023 unemployment rates were 4.4 percent in the Carson City area, 4 percent in Reno and 5.4 percent in the Las Vegas area.
More specifically, in Carson City, the number of unemployed decreased by 41 since September 2023 to a current level of 1,143 people, which is 102 more unemployed people than October 2022.
The labor force in Carson City is currently 26,158 people, which is 170 less people than September 2023, and is up 752 people since October 2022.
In Nevada’s counties, the lowest unemployment rate was in White Pine County at 3.2 percent, and Nye County had the highest rate at 6.9 percent.
