Letter to the Editor: The Greenhouse Project was created by the generous giving through in-kind donations of many
Dear Editor: A story titled, “Hunger Warriors” in Reno-Tahoe Edibles’ recent issue, stated The Greenhouse Project was built by Karen and Charlie Abowd. While this was a wonderful piece, this statement is incorrect. It is true TGP grew from a vision Karen had for a community that better served its food insecure.
It was that commitment and her ability to communicate the vision, that created generous giving through in-kind donations of many lead by Mark Lopicollo Construction and Manhard Consulting. TGP is a non-profit, 501c(3), now in its 12th year thanks to our community’s belief that what we do — growing, giving and teaching — matters.
While I have you here, TGP is currently accepting orders for the Flower Basket program, which adds so much to Carson City’s downtown each summer. Order before year’s end, receive a discount and be part of beautifying our wonderful town.
Finally, I invite everyone who feels so moved to choose TGP as an organization to support this Giving Tuesday, Dec. 3, by visiting www.carsoncitygreenhouse.org and to make TGP your Amazon Smile Account beneficiary year around, as well.
The TGP board is grateful to all who give in ways big and small, knowing we all have a role to play and that the Power of One multiplied can accomplish great things. May this Season’s blessings carry in to 2020.
Many thanks,
Karel C. Ancona
