Law enforcement conducts sex offender checks in Carson City, 2 out of 158 not in compliance

On Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021 the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division in collaboration with the Reno Police Department, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshalls conducted a sex offender compliance check in Carson City.

During the check, 158 registered sex offenders were checked to ensure compliance with community registration as required by Nevada Revised Statute 179D.460. Two registered sex offenders were arrested for being out of compliance with their required registration during the operation.

Sex offender compliance checks are completed by the Carson City Sheriff’s Office every year. Members of the community can access information and receive notifications about registered sex offenders in Carson City through offenderwatch.com. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division is asking for assistance in locating a vehicle theft and credit card fraud suspect.

DAYTON — The Central Lyon Fire Protection District has lifted burning restrictions effective Monday, Oct. 15. Open burning is permitted with a burn permit.
