Carson City deputies arrest 18-year-old for probation violation after driving 10 mph in a 25 mph zone

— An 18-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the area of 5th and Carson Street for probation violation after driving an unregistered vehicle at 10 mph in a 25 mph zone.

According to the report, deputies were patrolling in the area of 5th and Stewart when they began following an unregistered vehicle traveling at a slow rate of speed, clocking in at 10 mph in a 25 mph zone.

The vehicle then turned into the Nevada Legislature service ramp area and a male and female exited the vehicle and walked away.

The pair watched the deputy drive away and continued to walk away from the vehicle. Deputies turned around and stopped the two as they were walking west on 5th Street toward Carson Street. Deputies asked them to sit on the curb, with which they complied.

Deputies learned the woman was under supervision with Alternative Sentencing, who requested that she be taken into custody for violating her probation.

Deputies searched the vehicle after a positive alert by a Deputy K-9 who was dispatched to the scene, and found several needles located in the center console and inside a backpack in the trunk.

The man she was with had recently cut off his parole ankle bracelet, and parole and probation arrived to take him into custody.

Bail: $3,000 cash only

— A 20-year-old Carson City woman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and two contempt of court warrants.

According to the report, Sarina Welch was arrested by Special Enforcement Team deputies were on patrol in a “high drug activity” area when they became aware Welch was living in one of the rooms of a motel in the area.

Dispatch advised Welch had two warrants out of her arrest issued on Nov. 17 for contempt of court.

Deputies went to the room and knocked on the door, but no one answered. They confirmed through surveillance video that Welch was still inside.

At 3:40 p.m., someone from the room exited and met with SET deputies and told them they had no knowledge of Welch’s location or of being in the room.

Deputies received a search warrant at 3:51 p.m. After knocking an announcing the warrant again, Welch came to the door and surrendered herself to their custody.

During a search of the room, deputies located several hypodermic needles, lighters, and a cigarette box with a hypodermic needle cap inside of it, and a water bottle cap with a clear residue. The substance tested positively for methamphetamine.

She was taken into custody without incident.

Bail: $9,637; $6,000 cash only

— A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the area of Clearview and Oak St. for a hit and run, driving with a suspended license, driving with no proof of insurance, and a warrant out of Sparks Municipal Court.

According to the report, the man was arrested after deputies responded to the area of S. Carson Street and Clearview Drive on a report of a multiple vehicle injury accident.

Three vehicles total were involved in the accident, and two of the vehicles were blocking the number three travel lane while the third vehicle had left the accident, turning east on Clearview Drive.

Deputies followed the fluid trail from the accident location and located the third vehicle at the intersection of Clearview Drive and Oak Street.

Dispatch advised the vehicle’s registration was suspended.

The occupants were out of the vehicle, according to the report, and during the collision the vehicle had been high centered on a retaining rock wall on the south west corner of the intersection, and deputies observed that the vehicle had major front end damage and the air bags had deployed.

There were two occupants and deputies asked if they were injured. Both denied any injuries, and when asked who was driving, both stated they had been driving.

Dispatch also advised that the Carson City man had a warrant out for his arrest for driving without a valid license, and that he still a suspended driver’s license. Records indicated the vehicle had last been registered to him.

He was taken into custody on the warrant and the additional offenses.

Bail: $2,116

— A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 1700 block of Myles Way for domestic battery first after allegedly suffering a mental health crisis and attacking family members.

According to a family member, the man is schizophrenic and became upset and attacked his parents.

Bail: $3,137
