Carson City arrests: Man jailed for allegedly stabbing woman in thigh
A 35-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday for felony suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon and domestic battery with substantial bodily harm, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Brian Anthony Martin was arrested at 9:51 p.m. in the 700 block of Silver Oak Drive. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area for a report of a domestic battery.
While on scene the officer could hear a female screaming in area. The officer located two people sitting in a minivan, the victim, who was sitting in the driver’s seat and the suspect.
The victim pointed to her right upper thigh and told the deputy “he stabbed me; I need to go to the hospital,” according to the arrest report.
She pointed to a large knife on the passenger floorboard. The deputy could see a large amount of flesh, tissue and blood on the woman’s sweatpants, in which the deputy applied pressure to the injury and notified dispatch requesting the fire department to respond, the arrest report states.
As they were waiting for the fire department, the officer asked what happened. She said she picked up the suspect from work and that he was upset because she was late.
They began to argue and that he “freaked out” and began yelling at her. She said she wasn’t sure what happened but felt a sharp pain in her thigh and saw the man holding the knife. She said she began screaming and that’s when deputies arrived. She was then taken to the hospital.
Deputies met with the man and read him his Miranda warning in which he understood and agreed to speak. He told the deputy the woman picked him up from work and he was upset. He said the woman stopped the vehicle in the middle of the roadway and tried to confront him regarding their argument.
He told the deputy he “snatched” his bag that was on the floorboard and immediately heard the woman yell “you stabbed me.” He said the knife must have fallen from his bag and incidentally stabbed the woman’s leg, the arrest report states.
An investigation into the incident revealed the knife wound penetrated approximately 3 inches, the arrest report states. Bail: $45,000.
