Carson City woman jailed for TPO violation, allegedly harasses victim using Instagram

An 18-year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Monday evening for violating a stalking and harassment temporary protective order, a gross misdemeanor, and violating bail conditions after allegedly harassing someone on Instagram about a Pokemon Nintendo cartridge.

Deputies responded to the front counter of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office on a TPO violation report. A woman and her daughter told deputies they both had a TPO against the 18-year-old, which was still active. They then showed deputies two posts on Instagram in which the 18-year-old had made two posts with derogatory comments against the victim accusing her of being a liar and a thief. According to the victim, the 18-year-old accused the victim of stealing Nintendo video game cartridges.

On November 17, the victim was tagged in an Instagram post by the 18-year-old who wrote “this girl is a lier (sic) and a stealier (sic). She stole from my best friend’s house and I’m sick of people stealing from her. The game was Pokemon platinum and she wants it returned to her. It was bought with these games.”

Later in the day, the victim received an instant message on Instagram from the 18-year-old saying, “I love how this girl stole my best friends 3ds. What a f****** joke. Some military family they are!!!” in response to a photo of the victim and another friend playing video games.

According to the arrest report, the 18-year-old has multiple restraining orders from other people. The 18-year-old denied everything to sheriff’s deputies, claiming she didn’t use that Instagram account anymore but wouldn’t tell the deputies who did.

Deputies informed the 18-year-old she was being taken into custody for violating the stalking and harassment order and she began screaming for her mother and “screeching her innocence,” the arrest report states.

Her mother attempted to calm her down, but she was “out of control,” according to the police report. She attempted to pull her arms away from the deputy when they went to put her in handcuffs. Her mother attempted to stop her from screaming by covering her mouth, and the 18-year-old responded by attempting to bite her mother’s hand, the arrest report states.

She was taken to the jail where she remained upset and emotional. Dispatch also advised she is on alternative sentencing for a previous arrest for violating a separate protection order. Bail: $6,000; half, cash only.

In other arrests:
— A 56-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Monday morning in the area of 1900 East Long Street for misdemeanor domestic battery, obstructing an officer, and violating conditions of a suspended sentence.

At approximately 2 a.m., deputies received a call in which a woman reported her husband had hit her, and dispatch confirmed he had an active warrant. When they arrived, the woman and her mother were waiting outside the residence.

Deputies knocked on the door and made contact with the husband, who refused to cooperate. They gave him multiple commands to step outside the residence and put his hands behind his back, but he refused, and deputies had to assist him by placing his hands behind his back, according to the arrest report.

Deputies informed him he was under arrest for his previous warrant, and he agreed to speak with them. He told deputies his wife was about to break multiple items around the house, and before she could, he threw her to the ground and held her down.

Deputies reported he had a strong alcoholic odor coming from his breath.

The wife told deputies her husband was not happy with her mother staying at the residence, and that he was being disrespectful toward her mother. She told her husband he needed to apologize to her mother, but instead, he told the wife she was leaving. She said he grabbed her by the neck and hair and dragged her from their bedroom toward the living room. Once in the living room, the husband threw her onto the ground and held her down by the base of her neck and by her hair.

She said he eventually got off allowing her to get up, at which point she and her mother left the apartment and called 911. She said he did not strangle her and she was able to breath while being held down. Bail: $4,500 cash only.

Sunday Arrests
— A 41-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday night in the area of Fremont and Cortez streets for an alternative sentencing violation warrant.

Deputies responded to the area on a report regarding a suspicious vehicle, according to the police report.

Deputies made contact with the woman in the vehicle, who identified herself with a South Carolina driver’s license. She told officers she had a flat tire and was waiting for a callback from her insurance company before her car was towed.

She also told deputies she had consumed two glasses of wine prior, but was not in physical possession of her vehicle at the time of contact.

However, dispatch responded the woman was under supervision with the Department of Alternative Sentencing and had a no alcohol condition for a prior DUI. She provided a preliminary breath test resulting in a .280 BAC. She was transported to the jail without incident. Bail: $3,000 cash only.

— A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of felony domestic battery with strangulation, a sheriff’s deputy said.

Joey Michael Bennett was taken into custody at 11:30 a.m. During the investigation a deputy observed red marks on both sides of the victim’s neck, a large bump to the side of her head behind her left ear, and swelling to her right eye brow. The victim said she had been thrown to the ground, choked and head butted, knocking her out. Bail: $15,000.

— A 29-year-old transient was arrested Sunday on multiple felony charges, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said. Alyssa Elbert-Fortune was taken into custody at 9:29 a.m. She faces felony charges of being in possession of a gun by a prohibited person, possession of a credit card without the owners consent, possession of a controlled substance schedule 1 and schedule 4, gross misdemeanor possession of a prescription drug without a prescription, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and a failure to appear warrant.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the area of Woodside and Sharon streets for a check on a vehicle that was partially blocking the roadway with a female asleep in the passenger seat.

Deputies woke the woman, who was disoriented, and were advised by dispatch there was a warrant for her arrest. She was placed into cuffs and denied being under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.

An inventory was done on the vehicle before it was to be towed. Deputies collected the purse on the passenger seat and searched inside the bag, locating five Alprazolam pills, blotter paper, a Tylenol container with various medications, including Trazadone Hydrochloride, available only by prescription only several tablets available over the counter or by prescription, 2 glass methamphetamine pipes with burned residue, three bags of methamphetamine (two weighing 1.5 grams and a third .2 grams) and a .22 caliber pistol in a bag behind the passenger seat. It is noted the woman has an active, extended protection order and cannot be in possession of a firearm, according to the arrest report.

While at jail, deputies located several credit and debit cards in the vehicle that did not belong to the woman. A deputy contacted the owner of the credit cards who said that around 3 to 4 weeks ago he lost his wallet. At first he said he thought it was stolen, but later said he did not know if he dropped it on the ground. The owner of the credit cards said he did not give permission to anyone to have the cards. Bail amounts listed total $47,042.
