Carson City's Proscenium Players, Inc. host auditions for upcoming production of 'Gaslight'
Love to perform and have a flair for the dramatic? A local theater group may have an opportunity for you. The Proscenium Players, Inc. will host open auditions this week for the upcoming production of "Gaslight."
Written in 1938, by Patrick Hamilton, the play tells the story of a seemly normal couple living on Angel Street in Victorian England. However, behind the façade lies secrets, abuse and possibly murder.
“I really love this script,” says Director Steven Segal. “It’s about surviving hardship, overcoming it, and learning that past wrongs will catch up with you.”
The show was a hit when it opened on Broadway and was adapted into two separate films. This production will take place in the Brewery Arts Center’s Performance Hall the last weekend in February and the first weekend in March 2023.
Segal says because it’s a drama, he’s hoping those interested have at least some acting experience. “This drama is very serious, no comedy or light-heartedness what so ever,” he said. “We are looking to cast five speaking roles, and possibly two non-speaking roles.”
Auditions take place Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 16-17 from 5 to 7 p.m. In the Brewery Arts Centers Grand Ballroom. Those interested in auditioning should email Gaslightatthebac@gmail.com for the scripts being used in the audition.
Founded in 1965, The Proscenium Players, Inc. is Carson City’s longest running theater group. Members stage three or four productions each year.
