Minden Inventor makes TIME’s ‘Best Inventions’ list with sustainability startup
Reno start-up “nZero” was just named as one of TIME’s Best Inventions of 2022, based on technology created by a Minden inventor.
nZero is a Reno-based company which hosts a near real time (NRT) carbon data and sustainability platform that “tracks and operationalizes energy, financial and greenhouse gas emissions data” to help organizations reach climate change goals, according to a spokesperson for the company.
TIME is recognizing nZero’s technology and its contributions to carbon management.
“As calls for more urgent climate action emerge from the ongoing COP27 conference, inventions like nZero are now more critical than ever as private and public organizations alike race to reduce emissions outputs and take action against the threat of climate change,” said the spokesperson.
The platform utilizes a carbon emissions data model to provide 24/7 analysis, which is capable of capturing changes hour-by-hour and providing “actionable insights” to help customers reach sustainability goals.
nZero’s inventor and founders are all northern Nevada natives and its CEO, Adam Kramer, has lived in Nevada for more than a decade.
Inventor, co-founder and Chairman of the Board Josh Weber is a Minden native who is the grandson of homesteaders from Carson Valley.
As an energy and regulatory attorney, Weber has focused his practice on energy issues that are key to economic development in his home state and the western US.
"With this honor, TIME is shedding much-needed light on the issue of global emissions reductions and the incredibly effective and informative solution that nZero offers," said Weber. "The best inventions are those that have a positive impact on our communities and planet. Through our work to provide data accuracy and transparency, we are empowering today's leaders to make climate-conscious operational decisions to reduce their respective carbon footprints on a global scale, and we're encouraged that TIME has recognized the importance and urgency of our mission."
Co-founder and Chief Policy Officer Josh Griffin is a former Nevada state legislator and lobbyist who has represented a number of the largest technology, gaming, mining and healthcare companies globally. As Chief Policy Officer, he connects nZero’s data-driven solutions to companies, governments and communities.
CEO Adam Kramer is the former EVP of Strategy at Switch, where he led the sustainability group overseeing the company’s transition to 100 percent renewable energy use in 2016.
