Carson City arrests: Man jailed for theft of beanie, underwear and sweater
A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 4:03 p.m. in the 200 block of Koontz Lane for misdemeanor suspicion of petit larceny, a sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, a deputy was dispatched to Kohl’s in the 3800 block of South Carson Street in reference to a petit larceny in progress.
Loss prevention witnessed a man wearing a beanie stealing clothing items. Dispatch then advised the suspect was seen running.
A deputy located the suspect near the Evergreen Center and detained him. He was read his rights and agreed to speak. He told the officer his name and denied that he stole from Kohl’s.
Another deputy arrived on scene and they began to check the area. The man was seen by store security taking a red sweatshirt, a pack of underwear and a blue beanie.
Store security advised they had seen the suspect enter the men’s department, approach a display of merchandise, select a red Nike sweater and then proceeded to remove a sensor.
The man concealed the sweater into his pants and proceeded to select a beanie and a jockey package of underwear. He was approached by store security and ran from the scene. The beanie was found on a roof top after a contractor pointed to a shed where the suspect had been standing near. The underwear and sweater were found behind a trash can.
The total value of times stolen was $103 and Kohl’s wished to press charges for petit larceny. Security also advised they would provide the sheriff’s office with a copy of surveillance video. Bail: $352.
In other arrests:
— A 34-year-old Carson City woman was booked into jail Friday, 1:35 p.m. after turning herself in for a misdemeanor warrant issued out of the Department of Alternative Sentencing. Bail: $3,000
— A 25-year-old woman was arrested Friday, 8:53 p.m. in the area of Tioga Circle for a parole and probation violation. According to the arrest report, a deputy made contact with a female subject involved in a battery.
The woman was intoxicated and would not provide her name to paramedics or law enforcement. A deputy located a California driver’s license inside the woman’s purse. A records check showed the woman was on parole and probation with a “no alcohol” clause.
The woman blew a .239 partial blow, the arrest report states. Parole and probation advised it wanted the woman arrested for violation of conditions. The woman advised she was in an altercation but would not provide details about what happened, location, time or subject involved. She was held without bail in lieu of a hearing.
