It’s a good day to be a cat in Carson City
Three days. 32 cats. $0 to a good home. The Nevada Humane Society is wrapping up day two of a three-day free cat and kitten adoption event in hopes of rehoming every one of their furry felines. The clock stops on this free-for-all at 6 p.m on Sunday night.
The Carson City Humane Society is over capacity of cats and kittens. In order to provide excellent service to animals in need, less is more. In an effort to maximize adoptions this weekend, the Nevada Humane Society in both Carson City and in Reno is rehoming all cats and kittens for free.
All cats and kittens will go to their new forever home fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered and microchipped at no cost.
Carson City started this weekend with 32 cats and by noon on day two they have adopted out over 50 percent.
“This is the second best adoption turnout we’ve had next to Maddie’s Day,” said Humane Society employee Leora Henry. “Carson City residents are really coming through in helping our cause. Not only are they adopting the kittens but also cats that would otherwise be hard to re-home, including older cats, cats who have been at the shelter for months and those with health issues,” said Henry.
The shelter will be starting day three of the free adoption event with only a small handful of felines left. A few of which are Cadbury, a long haired black cat with glow-in-the-dark eyes, beautifully striped Desmond and Sweet Mama Echo who is hoping to be adopted with her cub, Romeo.
Tomorrow is the final day of this free adoption event. If you have room in your home and in your heart for a new furry friend then head down to The Nevada Humane Society by 6 pm. The shelter is located at 549 Airport Road. They look forward to seeing you!
