Carson City arrests: Man booked for drug, domestic battery and multiple firearm offenses
A man was arrested Sunday for multiple felony counts of firearm possession offenses, drug possession and misdemeanor domestic battery among other alleged offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office report.
Michael Lawrence Gonzalez, 48, was taken into custody at 5:35 p.m. following an investigation that began as a domestic battery call.
Gonzalez is on probation with the Nevada Department of Parole and Probation for firearm related charges. His condition for probation includes no alcohol, drugs or firearms. The Department of Parole and Probation was advised of the situation involving an alleged domestic battery being investigated in which Gonzalez was the suspect, according to the report.
CCSO deputies were notified through the Department of Parole and Probation that Gonzalez had completed and signed a 4th Amendment search waiver giving consent to law enforcement to search his property.
Deputies responded to the suspect's residence where he emerged and was asked about the domestic battery allegation. The man admitted to grabbing the victim and preventing her from calling 911. He was placed under arrest for alleged domestic battery and preventing the report of a crime.
He was read his Miranda warning and said he was willing to speak. He was asked if he had any guns in the house. The man replied no. He consented to a search of the residence, the Carson City Sheriff's Office report states.
During the search, officers located multiple firearms including 3 rifles (1 short barreled rifle under 16 inches, 1 long rifle and one rifle pistol combo and 8 handguns.) The short barrel rifle was able to switch to automatic firing mode; six of the handguns were polymer "ghost guns" without serial numbers. Also located was body armor, large quantities of ammunition, large capacity magazines (30 and 90 round) and firearm parts and accessories. Also located were several uncompleted AR15 upper and lower receivers, the Carson City Sheriff's Office report states.
Also located were two containers of marijuana, a rock of suspected methamphetamine weighing 1 gram that was sitting above the guns in a shelf, 1 bag of several large rocks of suspected methamphetamine that weighed 24.3 grams, .6 grams of an unknown black substance, a marijuana bong, a broken methamphetamine pipe with trace amounts of meth inside and personal paperwork, logbooks and journals belonging to the suspect, all booked into evidence, the Carson City Sheriff's Office report states.
He was booked on the following charges: 11 counts being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, 9 counts of unlawful possession of a firearm without a serial number, 1 count possession of a short-barreled rifle, 2 counts possession of a controlled substance, 1 count domestic battery, 1 count preventing a witness from calling 911, 1 count possession of drug paraphernalia, 1 count of obstruction and 1 count parole violation.
Bail: $20,000. There is also a no-bail parole probation hold in lieu of a hearing.

— A 62-year-old Carson City man was arrested Nov. 4 for suspicion of DUI second offense and open container in the vehicle.
According to the booking report, the man was pulled over in a traffic stop after a deputy observed a wide turn that went into the secondary lane of travel. During the investigation, the deputy could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. There was a female occupant in the vehicle who had admitted to drinking. Officers learned the woman had a bench warrant for contempt of court and she was later arrested.
The deputy asked the man if he had been drinking and the man stated no. The deputy observed the man had red watery eyes and slightly slowed speech. He submitted to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He refused to submit to a preliminary breath tests and told the officer "just take me to jail," the report states.
He was arrested and booked for DUI second offense. He was convicted of DUI in 2017. He provided evidentiary breath tests of .231 and .233. Bail: $2,500.
— A 25-year-old Gardnerville man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI. According to the booking report, a deputy observed a vehicle traveling southbound on I-580 cross over the dotted white lines, then made a drastic correction and touched the solid white line on the vehicle's right-hand side, the report states.
The deputy made a traffic stop and noticed an odor of alcohol coming from the man's breath. The man also had slurred speech. He was asked if he had been drinking. The man replied he was not drinking. He submitted to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .227 and was arrested for suspicion for DUI. Bail: $1,137.
