Carson City woman jailed on battery charge after fight with roommate over rent money

A 25-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday in the 3100 block of Airport Road on a charge of misdemeanor domestic battery after allegedly punching her roommate after she asked about rent money, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Officers were called to the apartment location at around 4:40 p.m. and met with the female victim who said her roommate grabbed her by the hair and punched her in the face when she went to speak with her about payment of rent.
The victim sustained a swollen left eye, abrasions to the side of her face, back and left knee and a bump on the back of the head, the arrest report states. She was taken to the hospital for her injuries.
The suspect told officers there was an argument about rent. She said her roommate started the argument and then grabbed her left breast, saying “where's the rent money, b***h?” the arrest report states.
The woman told officers the two began fighting and said her roommate kicked her several times. The fight was broken up by the suspect’s husband. The suspect had an abrasion above her left breast.
Based on the severity of the injuries, the arresting officer determined the 25-year-old woman to be the primary aggressor. Bail: $3,137.
In other arrests:
A 38-year-old Carson City man, Mazio Lee Larry, was arrested Monday at a convenience store in the 1600 block of East Fifth on suspicion of a controlled substance, a felony parole and probation warrant and two lesser charges. Bail was set at $4,237.
According to the arrest report, officers located Larry at the convenience store and knew he had a felony warrant for his arrest. During the pat down officers found a small amount of marijuana, a methamphetamine pipe with residue and a small amount of methamphetamine, the arrest report states.
— A 20-year-old Carson City man, Gavin Knight, was arrested Monday in the 1500 block of Sharon Drive on a felony failure to appear warrant, possession of a controlled substance. Bail: $5,000.
— A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 1:50 p.m. on a misdemeanor domestic battery warrant issued Nov. 3, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
— A 38-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence issued Oct. 29, 2014 out of Carson City Justice.
— A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 1:17 a.m. in the area of Carson and Park streets on misdemeanor warrant charges of petit larceny, issued March 22, 2013 out of Reno Township Court and a contempt of court warrant out of Sparks Municipal Court issued Feb. 20, 2014. Bail: $1,398.
— A 40-year-old Sparks man was arrested Monday, 1:06 p.m. in the area of the Carson City Freeway and Highway 50 on a warrant, failure to appear, issued out of Reno Township Court on Jan. 29, 2013. Bail: $1,135.
— A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 3:10 p.m. in the area of East Long Street on a warrant for contempt of court issued Oct. 22, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.
— A 63-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Monday, 8:41 a.m. on a warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued Oct. 29, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail $1,000.
Those arrested and facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
