Early election results in Carson City show decrease in voter participation compared to 2020 General Election
Early voting in the General Election of 2020 brought out just over 11,000 Carson City voters to cast their ballot in person ahead of Election Day.
While we saw over 5,500 voters come out to vote early in the 2020 General Election, only 3,400 have turned up to participate in in-person voting as of Oct. 31.
However, with early voting continuing through Friday, those numbers are sure to increase.
As of Halloween, 3,405 individuals have elected to vote early and in-person, while 6,480 mail ballots have been accepted.
By comparison, at the end of the first week of the 2020 General Election early voting period, 5,525 Carson City residents had come to cast their ballot in-person.
In total during the 2020 General Election, around 16,100 mail-in ballots were returned by Carson City voters. On Election Day, 2,599 ballots were cast in person.
During the 2022 primaries this summer, 2,550 Carson City voters came to cast their vote early in-person, while 2,459 waited until election day. However, 8,505 voters chose to send their choices in via mail. In total, 34.52 percent of active Carson City voters chose to participate in the primary elections.
During the 2020 General Election, 78.82 percent of registered, active Carson City voters came out to cast their ballot.
There are currently 37,217 active voters in Carson City; 14,459 Republican, 12,876 Non Partisan, and 9,882 Democratic.

In-person, early voting continues through Friday, Nov. 4 at the Carson City Community Center Gymnasium located at 851 E. William St. from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
