Carson City crime log: Arrests made for battery, concealing a dangerous weapon and warrants

A 38-year-old woman was booked Tuesday into Carson City Jail for multiple felony warrants alleging various crimes committed in Carson City, Dayton and Reno, a sheriff's deputy said.

Christine Marie Racine of Martinez, Calif., was transported to Carson City jail from El Dorado County, Calif.
She was booked in Carson City Jail for a felony failure to appear warrant with a bail amount of $100,000.

The warrant was issued after she failed to appear for sentencing on Sept. 26 for a charge of trafficking a schedule 1 controlled substance and felony driving under the influence with a prior felony DUI conviction, according to the arrest report.

Once booked it was learned she had two other outstanding warrants. The Lyon County warrant alleges grand larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a burglary instrument, as well as felony and gross misdemeanor burglary. The Reno warrant alleges felony uttering a forged instrument. Total bail for the three warrants: $277,500.

In other arrests:
— A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Wednesday in the area of Fall and Rice streets for gross misdemeanor suspicion of carry a concealed, dangerous weapon and misdemeanor violation of Department of Alternative Sentencing conditions.

According to the arrest report a deputy made contact with the man at approximately 1:08 a.m. who said he was out for a walk. The officer could see something was in the waistband of the man’s pants and asked him if he had any weapons on him. The man stated yes and began to reach for the waistband area. The officer instructed the man not to grab the weapon. The man stopped and put his hands in the air, which exposed a billy club in his pants.

The man stated he made the weapon for his safety. Also located in the man’s right front pant pocket was an object, he identified as a “spacer” which is used to hold inside a fist when punching someone or something. The officer could smell a moderate amount of alcohol on the man’s breath. He provided a preliminary breath test with a .099.

NRS 202.350 restricts anyone from possessing or manufacturing a dangerous weapon, to include but not limited to a billy club. The man was also on Department of Alternative Sentencing with a condition to obey all laws. He was arrested without incident. Bail: $3,000.

— A 48-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday in the 2000 block of West College Parkway for misdemeanor suspicion of battery.

According to the arrest report, the victim told deputies he was punched by the suspect for no reason. He said he was knocked out of his chair and onto the ground and punched again. Two witnesses advised they saw the suspect hit a second victim. The second victim apparently fled the scene.

The suspect was read his Miranda rights and said he feigned punching the second victim but didn’t touch him. He said he went over to the first victim but never hit him, claiming the man fell out of his chair for no reason.

The victim was checked by paramedics and released. Bail: $1,137.

— A 26-year-old Reno man was arrested Tuesday, 1:33 p.m. in the 3800 block of Highway 50 East for a misdemeanor warrant issued out of Reno Township Court. Bail: $1,120.

— A 29-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday, 8:37 a.m. in the 1600 block of East William Street for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Oct. 24, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.

— A 47-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 7:15 a.m. in the area of Northgate and College Parkway for a contempt of court warrant issued May 3, 2018 out of Churchill Township Court. Bail: $536.

The Lieutenant Governor’s Office and the Office of Small Business Advocacy have announced a community forum focused on building a strong and vibrant community and engaging Carson City’s small business owners.

Standup comedy funnyman Sean Peabody, who starred in Casino Boss that was filmed at the Carson Nugget, will appear this Saturday night with two shows, 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Carson Nugget Grand Showroom in Carson City.

For the first time in 33 years, the Carson City Fourth of July fireworks will not be held near Mills Park.

Instead, the display will move to Eagle Valley Golf Course, located at 3999 Centennial Park Dr. In addition, the Fourth of July celebration will now include a golf tournament in addition to a dinner and VIP Fireworks viewing option.

The Moving Wall, a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., will visit Douglas County for the second time this spring. The Moving Wall, which has been viewed around the country since 1984, will will be in Minden for the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

The Wall will be free to view for the duration of its display at the Eastside Memorial Park, 1600 Buckeye Rd, Minden from May 23-28, 2024. The building of the wall began at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Tuesday evening to a vehicle crash involving a motorcycle in the area of East 5th Street and Saliman Road.

Traffic was slow going in Carson City along Highway 50 East following two crashes Tuesday, according to Nevada State Police. There was a crash reported at around 3:50 p.m. on US-50 East and Nye Lane. There was a second crash at 5:18 p.m. reportedly near US-50 and Brown Street.
Injuries are unknown at this time. Motorists can expect delays.
