Carson City arrests: Jail inmate booked for battery after allegedly beating cellmate
A 27-year-old Carson City jail inmate was booked Thursday for suspicion of battery by a prisoner following a fight Wednesday inside a detention center cell.
According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report, at around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday deputies responded to the male discipline pod for an argument that turned violent.
Deputies opened the door and found the suspect, Christopher Charmad, and the victim, who are housed together, covered in blood.
A deputy ordered Charmad out of the cell and as he stepped out, he used profanity toward the jail deputy and then took a fighting stance. The on-duty sergeant at the time was able to verbally de-escalate the situation and placed Charmad in handcuffs.
The victim had blood on his clothing, which appeared to originate from his right upper lip. He had a large laceration and his forehead and had noticeable bumps and bruises, the report states.
The suspect, Charmad, did not have visible injuries, but did have blood on his clothing, hands and face. There was also blood on the floor, walls and door and Charmad's bunk was covered in blood. The victim was taken to the hospital.
Officers continued the investigation, interviewing the victim and witnesses and learned the fight escalated over an an emergency intercom button. Charmad was asked if he would like to speak about the incident. He declined and was booked for suspicion of felony battery by a prisoner. Bail: $20,000.

— A 35-year-old Marysville, Calif., man, Steven Warren Giboney, was booked Thursday into Carson City Jail for a felony failure to appear warrant issued Sept. 19, 2022 out of First Judicial District Court. Bail: $10,000 cash.
— A 37-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail for a misdemeanor violation of bail conditions warrant issued August 24, 2022 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000 cash.
— A 28-year-old Reno man was booked into Carson City jail for a misdemeanor violation of probation warrant issued Sept. 13, 2022 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
