Carson City man jailed after allegedly breaking into uncle’s residence

A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday in the 200 block of Gardengate Way for suspicion of felony burglary, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Charles David Rosencrantz was booked on the charge after an investigation into a burglary that happened Monday, Oct. 9 in the 1100 block of Spartan Avenue.

Rosencrantz allegedly broke into his uncle’s room at the residence with the intent to take items that did not belong to him, according to the arrest report.

The victim of the burglary, suspecting it was his nephew, had previously hid cameras in his room to alert him on his cell phone if anyone enters his room. The victim advised he was alerted to a person in his room and identified Rosencrantz as he entered, then Rosencrantz attempted to conceal his face with his sweatshirt.

He said Rosencrantz turned over the camera and he could no longer see the bedroom, the arrest report states. The victim then called a person who also lived at residence who was home. She made contact with the suspect who was removing items from his uncle’s safe, according to the arrest report. She said the suspect refused to speak with her, picking up a backpack and leaving the home.

The suspect apparently entered the home in the dining kitchen area where a sliding kitchen window was open and all the glass removed from the windowsill, the arrest report states.

Rosencrantz was arrested Tuesday at his residence in the 200 block of Gardengate Way. Bail: $20,000.

He said the argument started when they were in Reno earlier in the day. He advised the argument escalated and that he stopped his truck once he got into Carson City. He told deputies he got out of the truck and started walking, adding he needed to collect his thoughts and get away from the female, according to the arrest report. He said he walked home and the woman was already there with his truck.

He said he got his truck, drove around and then returned to pick up his belongings. He said the woman got into his face, arguing with him. He told the deputy the next thing he knew he was choking the woman out of anger, the arrest report states. He said he stopped choking her and they both agreed to call the sheriff’s office. He filled out a statement, the arrest report states.

She told deputy they began arguing and that she got into his face. She said he threw her to the ground and started choking her, asking if she wanted to die, the arrest report states. She said he stopped and she called the police. She filled out a statement.

As the deputy was looking a vehicle flashed their lights and honked at the deputy. The person told the deputy they had returned to their Ashwood Court home from work to find a man laying on the ground not moving.

The deputy went to the home and made contact with the man. The officer could smell alcohol on his breath. The man was groggy, slurring his words and made no sense when he spoke. The officer asked what he was doing. The man told the office he was waiting on him to “finish my floor shining demo,” the arrest report states. When he realized he was speaking with an officer he said he was soliciting and trying to make a living. He said he did not have a license or a temporary permit to solicit in Carson City.

A routine want and warrant check from a Colorado identification card revealed the man was a convicted sex offender and required to register. He told the deputy he had been in Carson City for one week and had a motel key in his pocket. The deputy asked the man which motel he was saying at. The man told the officer it was none of his business, the arrest report states.

While speaking with him, nearby homeowners approached the officer and advised the man had been banging, not knocking, on people’s doors.
