Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Wednesday afternoon to the 8000 block of Highway 50 East for a structure fire at an asphalt plant.
The fire was reportedly a large piece of equipment associated with the Tahoe Asphalt plant, with smoke showing in the area of the V&T Bridge, according to dispatch. The fire department was alerted to an 18,000 gallon propane tank that is in the area.
According to Carson City Fire Chief Sean Slamon, a large piece of machinery is burning with the fire on the inside of the machinery. No vegetation or structures are threatened, he said.
Three water tenders have been ordered to the area, and multiple fire units are responding.
