Programs and pressing needs discussed at Carson City Rotary tour of Salvation Army facilities
Members of the Rotary Club of Carson City toured the local Salvation Army facilities last week. Club members learned about the organization's various programs and services, and gained insights into their operations.
Local Salvation Army representatives shared information on their most pressing needs, and where additional support and resources would be greatly beneficial.
Club President Garrett Lepire says the tour was eye-opening.
“We were surprised at how many people they currently serve especially with the before and after school programs," said Lepire. "They stated they could double their enrollment overnight in both of those programs if they had the staff and funding to do so.”
The visit is one of several field trips club members take each year to learn more about organizations and businesses that play key roles in Carson City. Lepire says it’s a great way for club members to connect with the community.
“The club takes these field trips so we can really understand the inner workings of those making a difference in our area. When you get to touch, smell, and see something, whatever it maybe, it’s easier to learn about, instead of just hearing about it,” he said.
