Carson City area hunger drive: Can-Struction Challenge yields more than thousand pounds of food
Carson City locals who believe in taking care of families for a Greater Good pulled through again. Among Bureau of Reclamation, U.S. Geological Survey and USDA Rural Development, 1,042 pounds of food was collected for Carson City area nonprofits Ron Wood Family Resource Center and Friends in Service Helping as part of the Can-Struction Challenge.
The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation collected 496 pounds, U.S. Geological Survey collected 232 pounds and USDA Rural Development collected 314 pounds.
After visiting each Can-Struction location on Sept. 18 and tallying food weights, Judges Pam Winebarger from Ron Wood Family Resource Center and Tony Zehring from Friends in Service Helping, also known as FISH, announced USDA Rural Development as the winner of the Can-Struction challenge.
