Carson City man identified in fatal accident on Highway 395 in Minden
A Carson City man has been identified by the Nevada Highway Patrol as being the sole occupant in a fatal crash early Sunday morning, Sept. 16, on Highway 395 in Douglas County.
Rafael Silva-Olivas, 43, died when he lost control of his 1991 Jeep Wrangler on Highway 395 and Lucerne Street.
According to NHP, Silva-Olivas was traveling north on Highway 395 approaching Lucerne. For an unknown reason he lost control of the Jeep while making a right turn onto Lucerne. The vehicle skidded as it entered the intersection and struck the curb on the northeast corner and flipped over. Silva-Olivas was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from the Jeep. He was taken to Carson Tahoe Hospital where he died. The accident was reported at 4:38 a.m. The road was closed for about two hours.
