Carson Middle School student honored with PBS Extraordinary Youth Award
Carson Middle school 7th grader, Everett Hogan, was honored Friday night at the Silver Legacy with the PBS Extraordinary Youth Award.
Everett was selected out of over 3300 nominations, and 3 finalists.
Everett, now 12, first began his career of giving when he was selected as the Carson City Youth Leader of the Year in 2015 when he was a Kindergartener.
Since then, he has dedicated himself to helping others.
Everett was nominated for the PBS award after mowing lawns and shoveling driveways for elderly neighbors, as well as asking for dog food or canned goods for presents instead of birthday and Christmas gifts, said mother Ashley Hogan.
“For one birthday, he had a doughnut party for first responders instead of a party for himself,” said Ashley. “He collects soap and shampoo for the homeless. He is just a kind, generous soul.”
Along with his award, Renown gave Everett $1,000 to donate to a charity of his choice.
He chose the Dayton chapter of Desert Pigs, a local non-profit dedicated to cleaning up illegal dumpsites in the desert.
Congratulations on being a great community leader, Everett!
