Bike rodeo brings wheels and fun to Mills Park
On Saturday, Muscle Powered, Safe Routes to School, and Mayor Lori Bagwell joined forces for a bike rodeo at Mills Park, during which riders of all ages could try out different wheeled-apparatuses, take home free helmets, discuss BMX, and much more.
“In years past, Muscle Powered has hosted bike rodeos and we are excited to re-strengthen our partnership with Western Nevada Safe Routes to School to bring back events that teaches kids about bike safety,” organizers wrote.
In 2022, Mayor Lori Bagwell began a 'Move with the Mayor' campaign, a national movement to encourage active and healthy communities. During the event, Bagwell was on scene to hand out helmets and stickers, and to encourage the importance of an active lifestyle.
Activities began at 9 a.m. and ran through noon at Mills Park. Participants were able to try their hand on a variety of wheels in two obstacle courses, or could enjoy simply hanging out under the trees.
The event was sponsored by Carson City Public Works and the Carson City Parks Foundation.
Carson City BMX, The Bike Smith, Skiing is Believing, The Carson City Sherriff's and Fire Department also attended along with Kona Ice and the food truck Sliders (@Sliders Food Truck on Instagram).
