Carson City sheriff's deputies arrest 3 for suspected gun-related assault offenses

Three were arrested Friday for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and other alleged offenses following an incident involving a firearm that happened at a Woodside Drive residence and a shot fired into a sidewalk on South Curry Street, according to a Carson City sheriff's deputy booking report.

Tracy Cervantes, 32, Dominik Freeman, 25, and Alexander Salleng, 28 were each booked for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Salleng was also arrested for allegedly discharging a firearm in the city limits and being a prohibited person with a firearm. Freeman was booked for suspicion of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and gross misdemeanor brandishing a firearm.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded at around 7 a.m. to a report of an assault with a firearm and possible burglary in the 1200 block of Woodside Drive. Deputies were investigating an incident where Freeman allegedly pointed a firearm at a person during a dispute. Patrol deputies had Freemen and another suspect, Salleng, detained in the 1200 block of South Curry Street after locating the suspect's vehicle.

A sergeant located the vehicle, a Chevrolet sedan, and Salleng, who was shirtless, was seated next to the vehicle. There was a .22LR revolver located in a nearby shrub with one spent cartridge in the cylinder. Deputies interviewed Salleng after a Miranda warning, the report states.

He told officers he went from a South Curry residence to a Woodside Drive address along with Freeman and Cervantes. Salleng stated the three went to that area to confront a male who had allegedly made verbal threats to Freeman over the phone, threatening to kill his 1-year-old-daughter.

Salleng stated Freeman had the firearm and confronted the male. Salleng and another witness interviewed said Freeman pointed a revolver at the head and body of the male during an argument. Cervantes, Freeman and Salleng then fled from the area with the firearm, where Salleng took possession of the firearm at the South Curry Street residence. Freeman and Cervantes went back into an apartment, but Salleng was prohibited from going inside due to another person in the apartment having a restraining order against him, the arrest report states.

Salleng admitted he fired the handgun into the sidewalk, which is in a residential neighborhood on Curry Street. He said he threw the handgun in the bushes, where it was recovered by patrol.

Freeman was interviewed and admitted to brandishing the firearm at the male. He also indicated Salleng obtained the firearm through a residential burglary committed in Mound House, the arrest report states.

During interviews, Cervantes said she drove the two men in her vehicle to confront the male who made the alleged threats that he was going to kill Freeman's daughter. She also admitted to relapsing on methamphetamine and appeared to be under the influence, the report states.

In an interview with Freeman, he admitted to leaving the Curry Street apartment with the firearm, admitted to going to the male's house with the intent of gaining an apology for threatening his daughter. He admitted a firearm was in his hand during the argument.

He stated he regularly uses methamphetamine and has daily or every other day for 2 years. He stated he got the firearm from Salleng before going to the male's house but gave it back to Salleng when they returned to the Curry Street residence, the arrest report states.

In an interview with Salleng, who also showed signs of being under the influence of a stimulant, he admitted to conducting a burglary in Mound House, but stated he did not steal the firearm but received it after the burglary along with other items from the same location.

He stated he went to the male's home with Freeman and Cervantes, with Freeman pointing the firearm at the male several times. He stated Freeman gave the gun back to him when they returned to Curry Street. Salleng also appeared to be under the influence of methamphetamine, the report states.

Salleng admitted that he took possession of the firearm and saw a black vehicle drive down Curry Street that he thought was associated with the male victim. He said he manipulated the weapon and it discharged. He also said he is unfamiliar with firearms and threw it in the bushes, the report states.

Based on the information collected during the investigation the three were arrested on the alleged offenses. Bail for Cervantes: $20,000. Total bail amount listed for Salleng: $40,636. Total bail amount listed for Freeman: $42,500.

In other arrests:
— A 55-year-old man was arrested Monday for suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report. David Frederick Hagen, listed as a transient, was arrested at 5 p.m. in the area of North Carson and Telegraph streets.

According to the arrest report, a reporting party advised to Carson City dispatch that a shirtless man with a knife was chasing another man.

A deputy located the shirtless man, identified as Hagen. Without being asked the man told deputies he was "chasing" the males "with my knife" because they stole his cigarettes the night before. Hagen said the knife was in his black bag in a shopping cart a distance away.

A deputy spoke with a transient who said Hagen chased him and another with a knife, saying he was going to kill them and had lunged at both of them with the knife. One of the reporting parties then called 911.

A knife was located from the shopping cart and Hagen was booked for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Bail: $20,000.

— A 28-year-old Gardnerville man, Jorge Eduardo Diaz-Alvardo, was booked Monday into Carson City Jail for a felony warrant alleging theft. Bail: $20,000.

— A 34-year-old Silver Springs man, Joshua Brian Morton, turned himself into Carson City Jail deputies for a failure to appear warrant issued out of Carson City. No bail in lieu of hearing.

— A 38-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday for misdemeanor warrant issued Sept. 1 alleging violation of bail conditions. Bail: $3,000.

— A 66-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday, 10:42 a.m. in the area of North Fall and Corbett Street for a misdemeanor warrant issued August 11, 2020. Bail: $100.

— A 31-year-old Sparks man was arrested early Sunday in the area of Woodside and Sharon Drive for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery, DUI and failure to obey a traffic device.

According to the arrest report deputies were dispatched to the area for a possible domestic incident occurring in a car. Dispatch advised that over the phone they could hear a woman shouting "stop hitting me" and a male shouting "get out of my car."

Deputies located a vehicle turning south onto Airport Road and observed the vehicle fail to come to a stop at a stop sign at Airport Road and Woodside Drive. The vehicle then approached a woman who was running east on Woodside Drive. A deputy activated his overhead emergency lights and the vehicle came to a stop at the intersection of Sharon Drive and Woodside.

A deputy spoke with the driver and another deputy spoke with the woman on the sidewalk. Deputies learned that an argument had taken place, that the man called the woman a name, in which she allegedly slapped him in the face with an open hand, the report states. The man then allegedly punched her in the face. The woman had blood in her hand that she said came from wiping her mouth. Deputies observed dried blood around the edge of her lips and on the inside of her upper lip, which was a swollen blood red abrasion, the report states.

The suspect denied any physical violence between himself and the woman. He did not have blood on his hands and did not appear injured. He did have red watery eyes, swayed while he stood and had a smell of alcoholic beverage as he spoke, the report states.

The man said he consumed 2-3 Truly alcoholic beverages over the course of an hour, an hour prior. He agreed to standardized field sobriety tests. He was booked for suspected DUI and domestic battery. At jail he provided evidentiary breath samples of .083 and .088. Bail: $4,371.

— A 37-year-old Dayton man, Steven Cameron Lewis, was arrested Saturday, 2:47 p.m. in the area of East William and Russell Way for suspicion of felony possession of a firearm by an ex-felon, possession of a controlled substance and the following misdemeanor offenses: possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and driving with suspended registration. Bail: $20,000.

— A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday in the 3200 block of Highway 50 East for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, failure to yield, open container and impeding traffic.
