High speed pursuit in Douglas County ends with one in custody, suspect wanted for homicide

UPDATE: The following is a news release from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office: On Thursday at approximately 2:44 p.m. the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received a request for assistance from the California Highway Patrol who was in pursuit of a white Cadillac from the area of Meyers, Calif. The Cadillac drove past a license plate reader and it identified the vehicle associated with a subject wanted for homicide.
CHP pursued the Cadillac onto State Route 88, east, toward Douglas County. Speeds were reported above 100 mph. The Cadillac continued eastbound and entered Douglas County, Nev. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was requested to take over the pursuit.
DCSO, due to the high risk of the subject in the vehicle and his disregard for public safety, continue the pursuit eastbound on SR 88 to Highway 395. The Cadillac continued driving through Genoa, Jacks Valley, and back to southbound Highway 395. DCSO requested several of the schools to “stay put” due to the direction of travel by the suspect.
DCSO continued the pursuit on Highway 395, where an opportunity to stop the vehicle with a PIT type maneuver was deployed bringing the Cadillac to a stop at Highway 395 and Plymouth Drive. The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was caught after a short foot pursuit and taken into custody.
The suspect was identified as Reggie Lewis, 45, out of Arizona. Mr. Lewis is currently charged with a warrant for his arrest for homicide from the State of Arizona. There will be several local charges as well pending.

A vehicle pursuit in Douglas County Thursday afternoon that happened along Highway 395 and on Jacks Valley Road, ended with one person in custody.
The Record-Courier reported on Twitter the suspect was a felon, that the pursuit happened north on Dresslerville and that C. C. Meneley Elementary School was closed.
KTVN reports the pursuit began in California and the driver came in through SR-88.
The vehicle then made its way to Jacks Valley Road, where the school was also closed. The pursuit ended with a crash and a foot pursuit in the area of Highway 395 and Plymouth Drive, according to DCSO via dispatch.
Traffic has been reduced to one lane and was moving slowly as of around 3:50 p.m., according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
No serious injuries were reported in the crash. The suspect was evaluated at the scene by paramedics and then taken to jail.
