Carson City Fire Department respond to apartment fire on Menlo Drive
UPDATE 5:24PM: Here's an update from Tuesday afternoon's fire. Crews gained access to the apartment’s rooftop and began ventilation efforts on the structure. Quick and effective operations managed to contain the fire within one unit and prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent units. A ferret was located within the residence and appeared to be in good condition, no resuscitation was needed. No reported injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The fire caused significant damage to the unit involved. Red Cross has been notified to assist the resident during their displacement.

UPDATE 12:41PM: A Carson City Fire Department battalion chief reports the fire was out at 12:36 p.m. The cause is under investigation. No injuries were reported. Animal control was called as there was a ferret located in the apartment. The condition of the animal is unknown at this time.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called early Tuesday afternoon to a structure fire at an apartment in the 2900 block of Menlo Drive.
The call came into dispatch at around 12:15 p.m. regarding a fire inside of a residence. Arriving first responders report smoke coming out of the two-story residence. See video here.
Traffic into the area has been blocked in the area of Airport Road and Menlo. All people should avoid the area and allow for emergency vehicles to go through.
The apartment complex is being evacuated.
