Carson City Fire Department respond to reports of a brush fire near Goni Pit
UPDATE 2:52PM: A small, 15x15-foot brush fire, caused by a lightning strike, was extinguished in the Goni Pit area Monday afternoon by a single brush engine, according to Carson City Fire Department Battalion Chief Micah Horton. There were no injuries or property damage.

Carson City Fire Department was called to reports of a brush fire burning Monday afternoon in the area of Goni Pit east of town.
The fire was reported to dispatch just before 2:10 p.m. Monday afternoon off Goni Road. No word yet on how big the fire is, where exactly it is burning and whether structures are threatened.
There have been several lightning strikes Monday afternoon in the Carson City area, as well as periods of moderate rain.
