Carson City School superintendent to speak at the Rotary of Carson City meeting
Carson City School Superintendent Richard Stokes will be the guest speaker at this week’s Rotary Club of Carson City’s virtual meeting. The public is invited to attend the online meeting which takes place Tuesday at noon.
“The timing for this meeting is perfect, as school is set to start soon, and will look very different this year” said Club President Rachelle Resnick, “the school changes will impact many people in our community. We want to provide an opportunity for our members and the public to hear about the changes first hand”.
Stokes has worked in public education for 33 years. He began as a science teacher, later moving up to principal, and associate superintendent before being named Superintendent of Carson City Schools in 2007.
During his tenure he has served as the President of the Nevada Association of School Superintendents and was named Nevada’s 2014 Superintendent of the Year. He also served a one-year term as the Governor’s appointee to the State School Board.
Richard and his wife Keli have four children all of whom have attended and graduated from Carson City Schools.
