Carson City deputies makes arrest after alleged theft of $2,600 in Walmart merchandise
A woman was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of felony grand larceny after allegedly attempting to steal $2,615.15 in merchandise from Walmart, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office report.
Ashley Eckman was taken into custody at 1:53 p.m. She was also booked for suspicion of burglary of a business, a gross misdemeanor offense.
According to the arrest report, a deputy was dispatched to Walmart on Market Street for a shoplifter being uncooperative. The deputy made contact with loss prevention, who stated they watched the suspect fill several totes and carts with items, pass all points of pay and attempt to leave with the merchandise.
The deputy advised the suspect of her Miranda rights, which she stated she understood. She showed a deputy her Walmart app, and the last successful transaction on July 30. She said she had around $700 to pay for the items in her cart, and said she was going to give some of the items back but never had the opportunity. Bail amount listed: $12,500.

— A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of probation violation warrant. No bail hold in lieu of a hearing.
